One of these days I will end up tackling the thermostat. I just don't have the room to do it currently. Sucks not having a shop. If I could bring my truck in our aircraft hangars I would be golden!! Plus isn't the new Mopar antifreeze (pink?) kind of expensive?

What R/T said pretty much.

You're not going to be gaining like 500HP with a T-stat swap, but a cooler engine to me is always better. Especially living here in the south.

Not to mention lengthens oil life and productivity. Just good all around, I haven't done it on late models just cause I always figured it messed with the emission sensors and or gave mixed readings for smog.. and in Comifornia they are sticklers on smog... Damn Smog Nazis

And since I am no longer Sniff tested in Cali smog shops this should be no problem at all.

I have a brand new, never been used CST (Motorad) 180 stat part number 41680 I'll give away free to anyone who wants to come pick it up in Katy, TX

Link to product: CST 180* Thermostat for 5.7L and 6.1L Hemi

I bought it for my 09 and decided not to install it. Won't be using it in my 14 either.

Really, don't need a shop to change a t-stat buddy.

Just make sure you put big bucket down or a lot card bored for when you take the hose off. Other than that don't need any special tools.

I am WELL aware of what it takes to do the thermostat LMAO!! I have built my last two engines from bottom to top. I have been an automotive technician for 8 years and an aircraft tech for 3 years. If I don't know the rudementary basics of changing a thermostat, I should be shot in between the eyes.

Let me explain why I need a shop or a buddies house for that matter... I live in an apartment complex that is nicer than most neighborhoods and if you are even CAUGHT changing more than you air filter or what looks like a an automotive playground in the parking lot, I will be fined and then I will be evicted. It is very hardcore around my apartments but as the restrictions maybe a bit over zealous, it also keeps trashy people out that do that sort of stuff and make it look like the front of an autozone...lol.

I actually haven't worked on anything newer than a 2010 vehicle, but I looked today and my thermostat is easier to get to than my previous 2006 Hemi ram.

I need to do this on my 2007. Florida weather seems to rob me of power. I miss the cold mornings in VA.

We didn't say to use your LOCAL A.Z. / Wallyworld!!! :roflsquared:

You could also pull in the shade under an overpass at a safe place on the freeway,,,

Worst issue with that is a cop might come by thinking you're broke down and offer to call a wrecker for ya! Just tell 'em 'Thanks, but I have everything I need to get going here in just a few minutes,,' :roflsquared:

Soon they will outlaw everything other than the Prius... then I'll go back to the bicycle with a baseball card in the spokes. I love the state but hate the people in it... only problem is I can't grow rice in other states, Just wont grow. except for Arkansas.. but I'm not into screwing my cousin :roflsquared:

I may do this this weekend if I get time, depend on if I get sent to another fire this weekend.

another good idea. Maybe do at one of the self service car washes so you can have some shade and you can just let the coolant run into the drain. hahaha

Prius!!!! You would think toyota is giving those things away in California. Frekin EVERYWHERE.

It is a beautiful place. Crazy how you can be in the dessert pretty much where my parents live. Go to the beach about an hour away. Or Drive 4-5 hours north and go snow bordering. lol
