You don't need to do anything to swap to a 180 degree thermostat. It won't throw codes, you don't need to tune the truck etc...

Yes it will lower operating temps, which I know, normally doesn't make any sense. But the cooling systems in our trucks are thermostatically limited and not cooling capacity limited.

It is also advised to remove some or all of the active grill shutters though. Otherwise they will stay closed all the time trying to warm the truck up. I can't advise you about the ags removal though as I did a full delete. Someone will chime in about which shutters to remove I'm sure.

Fyi, I have been running a 180 degree thermostat since I bought my truck years ago and have never had a single issue with my cooling system. I highly recommend this modification for warmer climates.

Thanks for the reply. Yes i did remove the shutters. Just left the top and bottom shutter. Clutch fan deleted and V6 efan fitted. Cheers
Ah gotcha, with the v6 fan swap/clutch fan removal you will need a tune or to leave the a/c on all the time. Right now it will automatically cycle the fan on at I believe 220 degrees or so unless you command it otherwise electronically.

Yeap thats right for the fan. But my question is with 180 thermostat. Will it still open and circulate the coolant when it reach 180 F.

Is it real hot where you live? Just curious what you're seeing for actual engine operating temps?

General question: I wonder what the 5.7 engine power vs temp chart looks like (as installed, all the electronics, etc)? Does anyone know of wheel dyno tests were performed (Ram/Charger/300C, etc)?

I did the E fan in my 11 Bighorn and left the stock thermostat in and never had a problem. I didnt tune or program anything. My truck did not have the active grill shutters
