Hi guys bear with me I'm new at this.
Bought my daughter a 2002 RAM 1500 Quad 4x4. She loves it, what she always wanted.
Here comes the issue, Month after we got it a band in the trans blew. Got a rebuilt transmission and installed it. Works great, shifts great. Issues is that the indicator on the dash only shows when its in park. Shift to any other gear and the light that circles the letter goes out. The trans works correctly but ni indication on the dash. Also reverse lights aren't coming on.
All these worked before we swapped the transmission, and the trans guy swapped our electronics from the old trans to the new one.

My question is what tells the dash what position to illuminate, is it one of the switches on the trans or something under the dash?

Please help I want to make it safe for my daughter and the manuals don't give a clue.

Thanks.

When the new tranny was installed something might have gotten pinched or not plugged in. Or you may have blown a fuse. Im not 100% though. Im not real good with troubleshooting electronics. lol

Agreed, something was not hooked up/pinched.
You may get more help in the 3rd generation section with this issue. 2002 1500s were considered third gen trucks. Some had 5.9 gas motors with 46re trannys but other than that the similarities pretty much end.

Yeah that's weird as it's electronic. Check for wires like the others said
