Recently bought, 87,600 miles. Has a slight tick at idle, switched over to royal purple, but going amsoil after that. has a slight tick at idle, goes away after. Also isnt crazy constant, comes and goes. Doesnt seem to matter on temp but might be a little quieter after warm up. After a 1500 mile trip it didnt do it as much but now that it has been sitting its back. I was just told a valve is about to go(or thats what happened to his buddy) but figured id ask here since you all own them. Thank you for any support.

Could also be as simple as an exhaust manifold leak....sounds like a lifter.

If it's a lifter you can run a tank of higher Octane fuel to see if low grade fuel is the culprit.

9 X out of 10 it's just a lifter and not that big of a deal though.

Knocking down low on engine is a problem.

In addition to the manifold bolts, just realize that there is a common issue all HEMI owners have found which is affectionately known as "Hemi Tick". I've owned three HEMI powered vehicles and they all ticked.

Thank you, when i switched to rp the ticking got a little quieter and didnt happen as often, but when i was told about the valve issue i got a little concerned. I figured lifter since the syn oil helped it. And its literally at idle, any higher rpm and it goes away, just new to me becuase ive always had chevys.

I've had several 4.0 Jeeps......if they DIDN'T tick, I'd be concerned.

I have long tubes an a comp 260 cam so I don’t hear the tick until I’m at a drivethru where it’s sitting right next to a wall then I hear it. Lil annoying I guess but really doesn’t bother me.
