After reading all the issues with the 2014 ball joint issues I did some thinking. Zone offroad ucas will fit 2009-2014, so why wouldn't a factoy uca from 2009-2013 fit my 2014 1500 4wd. I went to a local u pull it and got both front ucas from a 2011 1500 4wd with 25k miles for $45.00. The ball joints were tight with no play at all. I installed the ucas along with a 2.5 spacer kit from ebay. Got an alignment and everthing was good to go. I have been running this setup for over 5,000 miles with no issues at all and the ball joints are tight as the day I got them. I waited to release this info to make sure this setup would work and so far so good. So instead of spending upwards of $600 between zone uca and bilsteins just to level your 2014. I have just over $130 and a few hours work.

You did it right. Most guys that go with after market UCA's do it because it's just easier to buy them aftermarket. Good job.

Its about time! lol someone with some sense!

Drove me crazy seeing all these threads with people ******* away money for upgraded UCAs when stock UCAs would work fine for 95% of what people need them to do.

I would like to see the the 2011 and 2014 UCA side by side to see if there is a difference. Are they just making the 2013-2014 UCA cheaper so it can't handle a small little lift?

Where's a good place to buy the stock pre-2014 UCAs? I don't really don't need the heavy duty Zone arms. I want to go ahead and get some older arms before the new truck comes in before they are all gone. ;)

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

used like you did is a great idea, as far as getting them new I'd bet if you went to the dealer and ordered a set for a 12 you'd get the same thing that the 13-14's are coming with unless they happened to have some in stock

Has anyone figured out the difference between the old ones and the 2013-14s, Are they diff joints. Or cheaper uca's. If I have a 2012. I'd be safe rite?

I was going to use the ones from rock auto if I wasn't able to find the used ones, so im sure they would work just fine. As far a difference in the uca's the ball joint just seems like its just cheaply made on the 2014's

Interesting. I wonder if they're the same part numbers? The drive train hasn't changed all that much since '11.

They go for $3O bucks a pop here.

Can't speak of the no name quality though.

I'm just trying to think of how the ball joint being very slightly lifted on one side can result in any damage.
If I'm thinking correctly, it can't come out of the arm.

It can and it does.

Search around...youll see PLENTY of people with ball joints coming out of the UCA.

The UCA on my stock 2010 doesn't look like the pictures of the 13-14 UCA, they are different.

Here's a 2010...

Wow. Looks like they have about 1/2 the thickness for the press fit ball joint. No wonder they are having problems.

I'll have to check, but I believe our (09-12) UCAs are hollow underneath the press fit, and not a full 1" thick
