It can and it does.

Search around...youll see PLENTY of people with ball joints coming out of the UCA.

I'm talking come all the way out.
Is there really a problem with the outter edge being slightly lifted out of the arm?
Doesn't seem like anything could actually come from it.

Yes they can lift all the way out, not sure what thread it's on but there some pics as well as the arm actually cracking because of this

I'm assuming you're talking about post 111. That's not due to the joints coming out. That's most likely what pushed his joint out lol.
That's also a 2wd with aftermarket spindles and a leveling kit on top.
Apples to oranges to a 4x4 with only a level.

I have a feeling that's also partially due to abuse...

I'm just s uprising that they modified uca on the 2013-2014.....could it be because of the air ride system?

If they changed the uppers, what about the lowers? I would love to see a full suspension pic of a 2009-2012 compared to a 2013-2014.

I have my wheels off every 5000mi to rotate them so I can check my joints every rotate. I leveled my '14 with a 2" kit and my joints started to lift out very minor, I pressed them back in and put 4 small welds around where the joint and arm come together to prevent them from lifting out. As I see wear in the joints, I will then replace the arms with something at that point, looked at '12 set of arms new for about $100 for the set.

Is there any cons to tacking them

Well, the reason the joints are popping is because of the lack in range of motion and the level is putting the joints at a bad angle. But I don't offroad my truck, need 4wd for the snow, and I have my wheels off every 5000mi to rotate tires, so I can check them for wear before they come loose enough to become a safety hazard. I welded my joints several thousand miles ago and have seen no adverse effects yet and the balljoints are still tight. I can't imagine the upper arms are that much different in geometry from '09-'12 to '13-'14, so I would think the bad upper joint angle issue is there from '09 and up, just the way the joint is mounted in the arm has created the problems for us that have the '13-'14 trucks, I could be wrong though, just my opinion.

4wheel parts welded mine about a month ago until the Icon arms come in, but I haven't heard anything from them and everything seems to be holding up, thinking about just leaving them that way

So I got the new Movotech UCAs yesterday and I think these are going to work great. They are solid all the way through, not hollow like the stock arms. I think this will be an excellent alternative to the expensive zone arms.

Where's a good place to buy the stock pre-2014 UCAs? I don't really don't need the heavy duty Zone arms. I want to go ahead and get some older arms before the new truck comes in before they are all gone. ;)

Rock auto.com is pretty decent price too

Have you had a chance to get those Movotech UCAs installed?

I have not installed them yet, still waiting on my Bilsteins to come in. Here are some pics though. I'll lay them next to the stock arms when they come off and compare ball joint range of motion between the two. I highly doubt these are going to pop ball joints like the stock arms.

You won't need them with Bilsteins, I have 3000km and over a month without issue set at 2.1 on my 14 sport

If you were to install a simple spacer level and have the ball joint issue, would it cause any additional damage when they fail? I ask because if no additional damage it might be worth the gamble that the original joints will hold up and you never have to replace the ucas. Worst case the joints fail and you replace the ucas afterwards with the same money you were going to spend on them on the front end.

Of course this is only a worthwhile gamble if no additional damage is done once they fail.
