2017+ isn't quite plug n play like the 13-16 trucks were... still no Programming needed, but it's fairly easy. Install/add pins for the mic harness into the existing connector behind the driver side air vent, run the harness up the 'A' pillar and across the front of the headliner, cut out a 1" square opening (approx) on each side of the headliner to install the 2x Mopar Mics, plug them in to the harness and pop then into the headliner.

If you are going the uConnect 5.0" route vs 8.4, I recommend you look for a same year 4th gen ram uC5.0 as your truck (ie 19 classic, but 17-21 classic DS PN will likely be okay). Some other year uC 5.0 Ra2's can be finicky when mixed between years, exorcist the earlier ones.

Hey guys, can someone share with me the wiring diagram for the low end radio. The one with the small screen with no GPS? I wanted to see which wire or wires controlled the mic

Been reading this forum post and think I can do what I want, but want to be sure. Lots of info here and kind of confusing. I have a 2013 Ram 1500 with a VP2 radio p/n 68088693AE that is dead. Found a VP2 out of a 2018 p/n 68365210AB. Will this work in my 2013 or will I need other parts or programming? Thanks.

In theory it should, but the Vp2 5.0" radios seems to be more temperamental than the 8.4 upgrade/conversion as far as different year radios from what I've seen others post. IMO you'd want a 13-14 unit, but if the price is right it's worth a shot.

Thanks. The guy is asking $150 and is local. If he would let me try it, I would be good. My next best choice is a 2014 vintage for $200 from the internet.

The biggest issue I've seen is if the radio can configure itself correctly to the truck ...
ie I've seen reports of Ra2/Vp2 from single cab work trucks/ram cargo vehicles with only 2 speakers that didn't want to setup correctly for a 4 way speaker truck.

If the local ra2 came from a 6 speaker truck, odds are better.

Good luck and report back.

PS :
if you want to go full 8.4 conversion:
- DIY: 2013-2017 RA3/RA4 8.4" Radio Upgrade/HVAC Conversion

The guy is going to let me try the radio in my truck. I believe his truck is a crew cab, so should be 6 speaker. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Met the guy and plugged the radio in. It fired right up and everything worked fine. Don't know about the backup cam, my truck doesn't have that option. Going to look into it. Anyway, the radio has all other function and didn't need a code.

Note: you will need his VIN for any SW updates on that radio if needed later.

Hi eryone,

I am from Europe, specifically the Czech Republic.

I own a Ram 2014 SLT (Canadian Market)

I wanted to upgrade the SW in Uconnect 8.4 to 13.51.11 PN68224538AH

so I installed 17.43.01(NAFTA) and then 18.45.01 (PN68224538AN) and the problems started

1. FM station tuning was not displayed on first start
2. When I put Uconnect to factory settings, FM stations work and tune in until I turn off Ram and after 30 seconds I turn on the ignition and there are no FM stations anywhere.
3. after factory resetting Uconnect my dashboard changed from metric to imperial and cannot be reverted

can i ask for some advice? i would appreciate your help!

Hi, advice appreciated, did upgrade from RA1 to RA2 on my 2016 Tradesman, all works but Sirius gets stuck on Acquiring Signal, so I can’t tune to test channel or get any codes to give the Sirius people. Old radio had Sirius and it worked, so I know antennas good.

So I just compared my RA2 part number to the list at top of forum and mine ends in 668AD which isn’t on the list, did I get too new a radio, do I need newer antenna chip?

Radio doesn’t have the round production sticker so I don’t know when it was made.

Just odd and radio in great shape so I’d like to keep it.

Thsnks

Mike

Last 2 letters don't matter.
Just because the antenna could produce a strong enough signal with the old radio doesn't mean it will with the upgraded radio. Could also be an issue with the tuner in the replacement radio.
