2013 RAM 1500 - Dented Frame

Hello, As many of you know i was involved with a really bad accident on Sunday. Got truck pulled out, and sent back home, only to look under it and find out the frame has a dent in it right under the engine.

The frame isn’t bent, truck does drive strangely (jumped a curb, needs an alignment) But i’m wondering if this is going to ever be an issue. I’m never going to junk this truck, so i wanna know.

It’s kind of hard to see, but there is a dent. After this photo i cleaned and painted it.

Kk. If you are super worried check the welds on that crossmember and look for newly flaked off paint or cracks. If it's just a decent dent I wouldn't be too worries a wheel alignment will definately help especially if you nailed a curb probly threw your camber and caster out.

Yeah, it jumped a 6 inch curb then fell 6 feet onto the passenger side wheel, only onto the wheel. No suspension damage at all. And thank you, i’ll do it tomorrow!

It doesn't look too bad looks like Your rack may be touching that member (not sure if it did origionally) but I'd check make sure it didn't ballon out on the back side, I wouldn't panic though looks far more cosmetic than structural damage. An alignment should tell any hidden stuff as well Though and if things are a bit off they can usually fix it within reason.

Edit: I read that thinking you hit a curb and like slid off a side wall that was 6 feet and stopped on ur passenger side not falling off. You literally landed on that tire? Like all the truck weight on that one wheel?????

Yes, all the weight of the truck went off that wheel.

Damn! That's a decent drop. Lucky you didn't roll it! Ok I wouldn't worry about the dent so much as a possible bent frame. I've seem some trucks so some Pretty crazy stuff and come out ok. I'd check that cross Member for sure but I'd also park on a perfectly flat surface and measure the frame up. Make sure it's not bent or twisted. I'll see if I can find any links for doing this. May not be dodge but a frame is a frame same Concept.

And yeah, the hill was around 40 feet deeper too. I’m grateful she didn’t roll

I got great news, the frame isn’t touching the power steering rack.

And from what it looks like the walls of the frame have no buckling.

I don’t think he planned on being one by the sounds of it lol deadly those curbs. I caught one in a damn Shoppers Drug Mart of all places, through out my alignment and back $160 bucks! Glad you alright and hope all goes well with your Ram!
