I bought a 2019 bed for my 2013 ram and need to power the tailgate latches. I would like to just have the handle pop the latches. Is this possible? I tried running 12v through the handle to the latches but that just burned out one side. 100$ later I have 2new latches and would appreciate any help. Thanks Dan

This may not be 100% accurate bit this is the connector on the tailgate it's self. I would also try posting this in the 5th Gen section there has to be some wiring gurus on there.
Did you just apply 12v to the handle? Did it work before it burned out?
You may just need a momentary relay in there to actuate the motors. I forgot about the little push button instead of lever. Maybe try starting with 5v power first

You can’t run 12v through the new tailgate handle switch to operate the latch actuators. It’s a tactile resistive membrane switch. You need to add two wires from the BCM to the tailgate- the handle switch sense circuit, and the tailgate release driver circuit for the actuators. You *might* need to enable those circuits in the BCM with AlfaOBD. I’m installing the new handle on my truck, and I did not have to use AlfaOBD to enable them, they just worked. Since you won’t be using the secondary lock and unlock wires anymore for the new tailgate, you could switch those two wires around at the BCM to avoid having to run two new wires. FSrYjDq.jpg
