Oil Change 2014 RAM Tradesman 6cyl.

Truck--2014 RAM Tradesman 6cyl.---20k miles
Just changed my oil and filter with a OEM Mopar filter "bought it at the dealer" and 5W 20 Mobile 1 extended performance oil.

Question: added 6 quarts did nothing to the dipstick, had to add a total of about 7 quarts to read to top of the dipstick range.
Normal yes or no?

Also: Its warm this time of year about 60 degrees this AM went to start up the RAM and it read about 90PSI, after a while it reads 35~45 general city driving. I am curious is this normal to be this high? when cold?

Thanks!

Stash, I have that engine in my '14 Jeep Wrangler. Quite honestly, that's a lot of engine for that little vehicle! These new engines have big oil pans. You're probably correct with 7.

If you bought the filter at the dealership, you're probably ok there too.

Stated oil capacity is 6 quarts. I would be wanting to know exactly why it takes 7 quarts? Was the vehicle truly level when checked? If so, I would be looking to make sure the correct part number dipstick is installed.

I had the same engine also in my old wrangler and it was dead nuts on taking 6 quarts.

At 21k miles, I have yet to do my own oil change on my v6 Pentastar. I picked up 4 dealer oil changes for $80 when I bought the truck and have one left.

Where is SitKneelBend at? He also has a v6 if I recall, and may have done his own oil change at this point.

I just did my first change and it didn't quite take 6 quarts. Because new oil is so hard to see on the stick I measure it first then drain my oil and measure how much I've removed from the engine. Then that is what I replace +/- where I want to move the level on the stick.

I have this same year, model and engine. 19,000 miles. Just changed the oil yesterday, and this is my third oil change.

Each time it holds exactly six quarts. That takes it right to the full line I the dipstick.
