I’m looking at a 2017 2500 Laramie rambox with the Cummins. I’m just wanting to know if there’s any issues I should look out for or of any known issues that I would come across in the future? It has 37k on it and is Certified Pre owned. Thanks!

About the only thing I can think of is make sure you get out and test drive it at highway speeds. Some have complain of a front end vibration but I never experienced that myself on my 2016. Also make sure it is not tuned and deleted but being certified pre-owned I doubt it is. (don't want to inherit someone else's problems)
At 37K you are now outside the warranty (only the powertrain remains) so make sure everything works as it should.

Other then that stick with the recommended maintenance and enjoy.

Make sure the drag link recall has been done. If they welded it, make them replace it with the updated drag link as a condition of sale.

Ok I’ll see what all recalls have been made. Also will the side steps on my 1500 crew fit this 2500?

I am not 100% on this but I don't think they will. I know when I have ordered step bars for mine one of the questions you get asked is whether it is a diesel or not. I think there is different steps for the diesel due to the DEF Tank.

Im thinking you will be fine swapping the steps. The ones I put on my 2500 diesel went on the same way as my half ton did.

This absolutely! The revised part is $135 our cost so they should have no problem installing the revised drag link for you. The weld is BS and eliminates any ability to set the steer ahead adjustment without cutting and re welding it.

Make sure you look at the idle hours. It should be one of the selections on the digital gauge cluster. I would be more leery about a Cummins with low mileage and a lot of idle hours versus one with high mileage and low idle hours. Of course low mileage and low idle hours is best.

Ideally, the lower the idle hours versus total hours the better. You want something below 20%. For example, my truck has 235 idle hours and 2,366 total hours. 235/2,366=.0993(9.93%).

With the ram boxes, make sure you learn how to put the hangers back in because they will constantly pop out. Not a big deal, but it is a PITA when you are trying to get into one with one hand.

Also, make sure it has had the water pump recall done before taking delivery.

Just FYI, but they have raised the price on that part now. It is almost $300 our cost. I refused to let them weld mine and was finally just going to replace it myself until I saw the "new" price. I have checked everywhere and about the lowest I can find it now is around $265

He aint kidding. This is the part I ordered about a month ago. Paid like $130. Wonder why its discontinued. Hope there isn't something wrong with these that we don't know about.

They changed it to a "AD" suffix. I'm 99% sure the only reason it changed was because they changed the years the part fits. They now actually show it fitting all the way back to 2013 where the AB model was 19-20 only (even though we know it fits). It's pretty common that they do that. Of course they also raised the price in the process.

Phew, I literally just installed this last week. Kinda freaks you out when you see its been discontinued.

FWIW I highly recommend changing to this design for anything bigger than a leveling kit on a 2500. The lift I installed wanted you to take the original drag link off, and cut some tab off in order to rotate the end that goes in the pitman arm 180 degrees. This one you can flip it around with out cutting.

At that price, I wonder if it's worth going for the synergy HD drag link, which looks to be a much heavier piece than the redesigned mopar one. Now they are nearly the same price.

Alignments can still be completed after the recall.
If you are having concerns, we can goodwill you a new drag link without a weld.
Feel free to send us a PM.

********, you cannot adjust the "adjustable" link once you weld it. FCA should be ashamed of themselves for this so called "fix".

I realize you are just the messenger but you can run this up the chain and tell them you have a bunch of pissed off customers

This recall is still open on my truck because I refuse to let them weld it. Whenever they decide to do the right thing and replace it with the new drag link I'll be happy to let them fix it but they are not welding an adjustable part.

Maybe on a Chevy diesel the DEF tank would be in the way. It wouldn't make a difference on a Ram diesel as the DEF tank is inside the frame rail, the running boards mount to the cab.

The mounting holes on a 1500 and HD trucks should be the same given the correct cab/bed config. I believe it's starting with the '16 model year a crash bracket was added to the front which will interfere with previous model year running boards.
