BWL, now that’s funny, I’ll have to save the picture for later.
Cornelius, thanks for that video. But here’s the deal.
My iPhone 8+ has the iOS 11.2 software update. So for some reason, the Apple Car Play did not show up where it used to be. I called Uconnect and the customer service guy was helpful but we couldn’t figure it out.
So today, I finally found it.
For any of you guys that updated to iOS 11.2, go to General>Restrictions>enter your password. Then you will see a list under the “allow” heading. That’s where you will find CarPlay. Toggle the button on (green)
Now when you go back to settings, CarPlay will now be listed right under Handoff.
To be honest, after I had it working, I’m not really digging it. Don’t know what all the hype is, but I’ll play with it some more when I have time.

Yeah, I didn’t see what all was that cool about viewing text messages, phone calls and contacts when I can just look at my phone but depending on how well the factory Nav works, at least you can utilize Apple Maps through your phone to your radio’s screen. Plus, if you have a ton of music on your phone like I do, it’ll be neat to see playlist info, album cover and such on the display that you see on your phone’s screen.

Geez, I was just looking for some help on the Apple car play thing. So to clear up what the wheels on my truck, they are the optional wheels that were available on the Laramie Longhorn and Laramie Limited models for 2016. Even I think, but not sure, back to 2015 also. I personally did not like the wheels on the 2018 Limited, and opted to keep my optional wheels ($495) that came on my 2016 Laramie Longhorn. BTW, center caps are not interchangeable with those 2 different wheels.

The hood is included in the Limited Tungsten pkg. Sport models have it as a option. Otherwise even on the Sport, it is the regular hood.

I guess too, maybe I said Laramie Limited, which is what they use to be called. Just looked at my window sticker, the word Laramie isn’t there. Sorry to get everyone confused.

I answered your question about Apple CarPlay earlier in this post.

Actually you did not. You stated that you need to plug in the USB under the console lid, but that did nothing.
For anyone having a difficult time with iOS 11.2, follow my instructions earlier. Must have toggled CarPlay to on. Weird that Apple hid it after this last update.
Oh, and by the way, it works through either USB & I have a non Apple (Belkin) cable that it works also.

Anyone know if they will be doing an update for the 2017 and lower models for the apple/android play?

With my wife’s car, it needed to be plugged into a particular USB. And then I had a pop up to connect to CarPlay. However I have not updated to iOS 11 yet.

Deepc6, if and when you do the iOS 11, you may need to do what I had to. Go into restrictions to toggle CarPlay to on.

That’s weird that that has to be toggled on after the update. Up Until I get my new truck, this will have been the first time I’ve had anything that will be able to use Apple Car Play and after reading your post, I looked on my iPhone 7 and the Car Play stuff was already enabled.

I didn’t say he had to, only he may have to toggle it on. My iPhone that I have now was never used for Apple CarPlay, maybe that’s why I had to toggle it on.
Weird thing was I couldn’t find it. It wasn’t where it was on my iPhone 7+. Didn’t give much mind before as my ‘16 Ram didn’t have CarPlay.
