I just took delivery yesterday of a new Laramie Limited. Question on how to get the Apple Car Play to work.
When I plug my phone in, I don’t get the iPhone screen layout. There is an icon in the app section on the radio screen, but it is grayed out.
Any one have any ideas?
It should just start up automatically from the research I’ve done so far. BTW, my iPhone is a 8+ with the latest iOS 11.2

Might need to use a different cable, preferably the OEM one.

Can't help with the Apple Car Play issue, but congrats on the new truck.

Laramie Limited? Hmm. Didn’t know they had such a trim. That looks more like a Limited Tungsten Edition with the darker chrome grille, door moldings and the lack of chrome on the door handles and the mirrors...

Anyhoo, try this video.

You might try this too, in your iPhone settings, but it says your vehicle has to support wireless Car Play to work. Which is weird, because the above video just shows plugging your lightning cable into the the driver-side USB port in the console...

Which USB plug are you using when you connect your phone, from what I have seen and read it must be connected to the USB in your center console under the lid.

so the Laramie limited comes with the sport hood? I like that color, too.

There’s nothing Laramie on that pickup. The only way I’ve seen to get the Sport hood on the Limited is to opt for the Tungsten Edition, which is what to me it really looks like he has. I don’t know about those wheels, tho. They’re not Limited wheels.

I agree. It looks more like the Tungsten Limited edition, not Laramie.

The wheels are the limited forged wheel option. I have them on my truck. As far as I know 2018 now has a sport hood option, but I could be mistaken. The limited is technically a laramie longhorn with an additional trim package on the build sheets. The tungsten is still a limited.

Hmm, out of all the times I’ve built my new truck on the website, I’ve never seen those wheels offered as an option on the Limited. Just the polished and the satin gray colors of this one.

It does, depending on the trim. I’m not sure about the Laramie or even the Laramie Longhorn packages, or even on that Southfork package because I haven’t looked into them a whole lot but at least on the Limited, it’s only available on the Tungsten.

Sport hood might be an option on ALL versions. I've never built anything but a sport when I was playing on the site because that's all I wanted was a Sport.

Not from what I was told from a salesman. Certain things are only available on certain trims.

He pretty much told me that if I wanted a sport hood on my Limited that I either A, had to settle for the Tungsten or B, they (the dealership) could order me a new primered sport hood, send it to a local paint shop, have it painted for me, and install it. Unless he was withholding information, he said that if it wasn’t offered as an option on the website that there wasn’t anything special be able to do from the factory.

makes sense. Not that I believe sales staff as gospel preachers, but seems logical.

Yeah, no doubt. When I was at a dealership Saturday checking out a truck in that Maximum Steel color, the salesman that was there with me was trying to tell me that on the models with air suspension, they move the trailer brake controller(if equipped) to some other location to put the air-ride panel in its spot and I said no, it goes to the right of the brake controller...lol.

They were on the build site for 16, but not for 17. I'm seeing 18s rolling in with them on limited and longhorn trim. Only difference in diferent centre caps. Longhorn says longhorn and the limited say ram. I have them on my 17 so there must be a way to get them. I had my truck brought in from another dealer to get what I wanted so the rims were a surprise to me.

I don’t know what the deal is, even when I’ve looked at the Limiteds on the different dealers websites near me looking for what I could possibly settle for since I heard word that they won’t let anyone order anything now until after the first of the year, I have yet to see a Limited with a wheel package on it other than what’s in the picture I posted above.

They might have offered those wheels at one time but for example I’ve noticed that, in the configuration I’m looking at, which is, 5-7 bed, crew cab, that you all the sudden can’t get the Ram Box in the Limited and if you opt for the Tungsten, it doesn’t even no longer give you the option for the Light Frost/Indigo-colored interior. You have to settle for the standard black interior even on the tungsten.

They were never on the 17 configurator. The 18 configurator isn't up in Canada yet and it may not be fully set up in the US either. A lot of times things aren't available online until well after the dealers have put in all their pre-orders. Mine could have been factory take offs from another truck for all I know. A lot of the dealers up here throw custom rims on trucks and sell off the factory ones so when I bought mine they could have swapped them before shipping it.

Geez, I was just looking for some help on the Apple car play thing. So to clear up what the wheels on my truck, they are the optional wheels that were available on the Laramie Longhorn and Laramie Limited models for 2016. Even I think, but not sure, back to 2015 also. I personally did not like the wheels on the 2018 Limited, and opted to keep my optional wheels ($495) that came on my 2016 Laramie Longhorn. BTW, center caps are not interchangeable with those 2 different wheels.
The hood is included in the Limited Tungsten pkg. Sport models have it as a option. Otherwise even on the Sport, it is the regular hood.
I guess too, maybe I said Laramie Limited, which is what they use to be called. Just looked at my window sticker, the word Laramie isn’t there. Sorry to get everyone confused.

Sorry. That's what you get for distracting us with a shiny new truck. No picture and we'd be more helpful. Hopefully the first few posters gave you the info you needed to solve your problem.
