A good dealer should be able to diagnose and fix your issue. I agree that today's quality control is not so hot. For me personally, only needing to tow / haul once in a while, I briefly considered a Honda or other 'midsize' truck - but the overall utility of the 1500 CC with 5.7L Hemi is hard to beat. I'm at one year and about 11,500 miles, and the only thing needing warranty work has been a cruise control switch. Getting pretty nearly 20 mpg for my driving (lots of country road and freeway, not much city).

There are some issue that bug me a little - I will eventually fit an updated fuel filler pipe to make filling the gas tank a bit easier. I need to add a little rubber between dash and console for a rattle that only happens in the winter with cold starts. Oh yeah, the oil filter change messiness is right up there with my old Toyota (high, cramped, side of block) - but eventually I'll do a remote oil filter. The way the BW 44-44 transfer case is controlled isn't what I thought I was getting, but Brandon W has an 'override' harness and switch for that. The biggest thing, is that all manufacturers have some issues; they're just not the same ones.

Hope the dealer makes your brakes work like new. Don't spend too much time on second-guessing yourself =).

When I debated getting a 1500 with the Hemi, or Pentastar, I didn't know the Pentastar had the oil filter on top of the engine. Had I known, it would have made the decision easier, but I chose the V6 anyway. Really is a breeze changing the oil and filter, plus you can even change the filter in-between oil changes in a couple minutes, without losing a drop of oil!

If I had the Hemi, I'd probably be taking it in for oil changes, but with the Pentastar, I do them on the driveway very quickly. Don't even have to use ramps.

Gets 19-20 MPG average combined (more off freeway than on, with loads) and have 20K miles after 16 months. Only taken in for a couple software updates. Oh, and the brakes work like new.

Dropped it off today. They said they may get to it Monday..........WOW! Nice, basically a week to even get to it. That pretty much makes my QC point.

Dropped it off today, dealership said they may get to it Monday. Makes my QC point for me! WOW! The brakes now continue to go down further to the floor while stopping, they don’t firm up or stop, just keep right on through being mushy.

It’s possible they could’ve just got some air in the lines when they filled it up. Or who knows, you could have a bad master cylinder. Parts have been known to be bad right out of the box.

I stopped by a different dealership and drove a truck identical to mine. The brakes are night and day different. I realized my brakes are nowhere close to where they were when I bought the truck two months ago. I havent towed anything or even filled the bed up. Its been city, highway or expressway driving. So I am really surprised that the brake goes past the gas pedal. Dropping it off tomorrow, we will see.

Sent you a message. They basically said unable to duplicate. I explained it does it all the time, they said they will look at it again and have different people drive it. I told the advisor I won’t pull a trailer with it for fear of it not stopping.

Is there a phone number I can call to speak with someone directly if I continue to disagree with the dealership?

Hissing sound from around brake pedal sounds like a possible booster leak. Head to a dealer. Honda has problems too and the sell a heck of a lot less trucks. As far as problems go The 2018 Mass Market Nameplate IQS Ranking,Ram comes in at #5 with 84 problems per 100 vehicles sold. Honda is at #15 with 102 per 100. Mass Market Average is #8 at 93 per 100. That's by JD Power.

Hi David,

I responded to your private message earlier today, just wanted to follow up with you here to give you a heads up! Please take a moment to review that and get back to me when you can.

There is no vacuum booster on a current generation RAM trucks or any FCA vehicle with a six or eight speed transmission. The braking system is a bastardized computer controlled hydro-boost system. Any under dash hissing sound is likely AC related and likely from a door in the plenum failing to fully close.

Interesting statement as rockauto list a replacement that looks like any vacuum brake booster I ever saw.

I don't know why they want a truck and will not work on it till Monday??
I take mine in and they work on it when the appointment is, though, they sometimes can't tell time.
When you are sitting, and hold the brake on, does the pedal hold or creep down?
My last one would creep down if you held pressure on the pedal, at about 60km. worm pads.
My current one seemed a bit soft, but never changed in 30Km
sounds like pads?
You said it was fine when you bought it?.
Honda has had quality problems also, Wife has a CRV, 70km, and they can't get rid of wind noise.

I have a 18 1500 quad cab and just turned over 4500 miles. Can't say that your complaint is unjustified. Mine stops and reacts to pedal pressure pretty much the same as my 98 does. No wierd mushy stuff. Since it's so new, they should be giving you a loaner vehicle while you wait. If they don't volunteer, I'd ask them for one.

Oh I totally understand, you gotta say it. Had it been someone else I would have. It’s just disheartening when I take what a 15 year break from trucks because of quality issue, buy a new truck aaannnndddd we have quality issues. I understand everyone has them but it’s brakes man, it ain’t an automatic sunroof or electric side view mirrors, it’s brakes, thought we had these figured out in the middle of the last century. And people say, they will take care of it. I know they will, but that misses the point. You drop between $30-60,000 on a truck and a basic element of vehicles becomes an issue in two months? C’mon! I mean, C’mon!

Hope your 2019 doesn't turn out like mine. I have a New Style that rolled back three feet in park, (unresolved). Then experienced a very loud noise (sort of like a air brake noise on an 18 wheeler) along with an intense vibration that could be felt at exterior of the cab. Was told it was one of two noise cancellation modules, (unresolved because they don't know which one, was told to drive it until it occurred again). Then the transmission dropped down into first at 50 miles per hour which caused the RPM's to skyrocket. They did a reflash for this, but now have a tapping in the engine and some slack in drive train. To be continued...(?)
