Purchased a brand new 1500 Limited ecoDiesel last Monday (5/4), and it has spent five days in the shop so far. Still currently at the dealer awaiting a part to fix a coolant leak that ‘might’ come in next week.
    Issues so far have been:
    • a rattle from the speaker grille in the rear passenger door (they replaced the entire door panel)
    • Fuel return line popped off, soaking the entire engine compartment in diesel
    • Coolant leak coming from the timing cover
Anyone experiencing anything similar or have any advice? I do love the truck otherwise, but I’m coming out of a 2015 Grand Cherokee ecoDiesel that gave me zero problems over 60k miles and was expecting a little more out of this...
~380 miles on the clock so far.

I think your truck was built by temporary replacements on a Friday.. :-O
As with anything mass produced, problems will arise and it's usually the dealer that determines how happy or pissed off a customer will be.
I've heard of a few random codes and some minor repairs to various parts of the truck, yours sounds a whole lot worse.

I've had my truck in the dealer twice in 3 months due to a coolant leak. So far so good since the last repair.

Sounds like the build stopped on Friday pm and finished Monday am. LOL Hold your dealers feet to the fire. I was lucky I made it to 60K before any problems. And on that note- engine spun a main and I was in the fast lane. When it was towed in the service writer came into the waiting room and told me the engine was low on oil. I asked him if he checked the tail gate that was covered in the missing oil.

Guess mine was built by experienced people on a Wednesday, 4.7L with close to 500K on the clock, then a Chrysler 300 (2016) with the 3.6L Pentastar in it, 120K, no issues with either. I’ve heard of some Pentastars turning into Pentagrams though.

Hi @NBLskis - I am incredibly sorry to hear of the frustration that has been associated with your ownership experience, this is most certainly not the type of experience we expect for our customers! If it would be of interest, I would be happy to get your situation escalated to a specialist who can work alongside your dealer to try and resolve your concerns as quickly as possible. Our team is always a private message away to get the process started.

Thanks @RamCares. It was escalated last week and I have two separate case numbers now, but still no resolution. A part for the repair was finally “released” this morning, but no ETA. Feel free to pm me if you want the numbers and think you could help.

I’m told they’re working on getting another truck in the event the manufacturer approves trade assist, which frankly sounds like something they’re saying to placate me in the hopes I stop calling and emailing every day.

As of this afternoon I’ve owned the truck for 16 days and Fred Beans Doylestown has had it in the shop for 10 of them.

Comedic PS: when I asked the GM of the dealership what he’d do if he were in my position, the response I got was, “that’s not a fair question to ask me.”

While I regret to hear this update, I appreciate you taking the time to follow up. If you would be willing to send over your case numbers, I would be more than happy to look into this further.

Will do. I’m told the part now has an ETA towards the end of July. FCA won’t offer trade assist or do anything until it qualifies for lemon law. Fred Beans are unwilling to do anything on their end either. A billion dollar group of dealerships (yes, with a B) aren’t willing to take a few thousand dollar hit to make it right for the customer and then duke it out with FCA on the back end? I guess that’s how you get to be a Billion dollar company though.

Looks like I’m going to be twiddling my thumbs for at least the next 18 days. Then hurry up and wait for the lemon law process to run it’s course. Maybe I’ll use the time to publish a “captain’s log” of my ownership experience so far... it actually pretty comical.

I’ve never wanted a real life Undo button more. At this point I wish I could just take my GC ecoDiesel back, do a full egr/dpf delete and tune, and put 200k more miles on it.
