just did front on the squids truck. on the passenger side one of the pin boots was ripped so the pin was seized in the bracket. the rotor was rust welded on. so much swearing and pounding it finally came off. unsiezing the the pin same thing so a simple brake job took most of the day i
The good old blue wrench comes in very handy for those seized slider pins. Same for seized bolts, sometimes we need to show those parts a little bit of warmth.

2500 is what I got quoted to do all rotors, pads, and new ebrake kit for seized ebrake. Northeast salt belt.. so seems about right. All mopar parts. Sure you can do it for less and more time. But a shop that does it in a few hours by the end of the day has to pay their staff too. Time is money. A lot of people are out of touch here. Paying a kid $150? Yeah right! I just did my rear diff in my driveway...its a shame if they have to replace that new fluid lol. The rest of my undercarriage is fluid filmed and perfect, but brakes take a beating.

Not all of us are out of touch spud. You are entitled to pay as much as you want to for a brake job but top quality pads, rotors and calipers all round is under a grand. My 2500 they are 785. Job should take 4 hours if they know what they are doing, so 400+ an hour, is okay by you? Even if the job takes 7 hours you are paying near 200 an hour shop rate. Yes, they have to cover costs and make a profit but that well exceeds my tolerance.

If you are happy, I am happy for you., but I am not paying that for a brake job.

Looking at that page and it is $2500 "PER AXLE". $5k for a do it yourself brake job? Um, thats a huge no thanx.

that's not a brake job. That's an upgraded brake kit with aftermarket parts. If you want big brakes, you gotta open up your wallet. I made brake kits for Dakotas, adapted a mix of OEM parts and custom fabricated brakets along with some machine work to re-used factory parts. End result: 14" brakes all around. 6 piston brembos up front, 4 piston brembos out back. I was charging around $1700 for a complete front kit and $1100 for a complete rear kit, and that was 10 years ago.

heck, just a set of 4 rotors was almost $700 my cost alone, and everything I provided was either brand new or professionally rebuilt OEM with warranty.

brakes fun stuff especially for people that live where you get a real winter. i just pulled the back brakes off my 15Pw. the passenger side looks great nice and shiny with a thin coat of gear oil. the driver side looks good too everything nice and dry no wear on the pads hardly at all a little bit of dirt and gear oil and dirt on the axle tube

Suppose if I were building an all out racer / show truck, then probably going all in on it, as far as the Brembos and fancy shmancy rotors are concerned.

But the Powerstop Z36 (drilled / slotted rotors, ceramic pads and calipers) on all 4 corners of my DD works just fine for me. Mine are 3 years old now and still look like the day I put them on.
