I need new front calipers for my 2001 1500, and I’m interested in upgrading. I’ve seen things online about upgrading 99-earlier to 3/4 ton calipers of the same years (single pistons). I’m just wondering if 2000-2001 1500s can be fitted with 2000-2001 2500 or 3500 calipers as a bolt on (all dual piston setups). Anyone have any experience with this?

the 1500 has 12 inch rotors and the 2500 has 13 inch rotors. unless the dual piston calipers fit onto the single piston caliper bracket then I would say no as this would put more than an inch of your brake pad into the air.

from a glance it looks like they won't swap over.... but a creative person could probably find a caliper bracket that would give a 2500 caliper a home on a 1500 steering knuckle....

I'll keep my eye on this one ;)

Oh and the 99 2500 swap... those were single pistons on the 2500. they just had an 80mm bore.... same caliper and bracket between the 1500 and the 2500 just different piston bore. :)

Can anybody recommend a good aftermarket brake upgrade kit? I've got a '99 1500 and the brakes are pretty weak. I'm about to put some 37" tires on this truck and need all the stopping power I can get
