3.92 Swap question

I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Regular Cab, the truck has a 3.21 open Diff and I am considering the Detroit trutrac with 3.92 gear swap, will the truck need any tuning?

this is what I did works great but recall on my 2010 think they brokepinon nut there were bad years back ending up a better biger new one with a flang ! 200.00 they said failed well not realyy out back in ring and pionon shop in californa and all fine but nut damage so fix and never let them touch yours ok u ll love on powertrain warrnty but love mine sooo much love trutric been useing on my trucks 10 years never a problem use amsoil in it 50,000 mile very little wear at all ! good luck !

I would love to do the swap myself, just not sure I tust myself to set up the gears on a practically brand new truck.

Leave it to the pros... you have to set the backlash just right or you will get gear whine and possibly ruin the gears.... not saying you can't do it yourself but have it done for piece of mind

Leave it to the pros... you have to set the backlash just right or you will get gear whine and possibly ruin the gears.... not saying you can't do it yourself but have it done for piece of mind

true, but then they would 100% have you covered if you had issues.
Now if you grenaded your rear end, they'd tell ya to pound sand LOL

Personally I would calibrated the speedo so it is in unison with the output shaft speed sensor on the trans.

Having them read differently can not be a good thing

If you go to a trutrac you may have to change one of the axles. I'm not positive but Matt at Moe's would know for sure. It would be worth a phone call.

I talked to Eaton last week and they said they will be building the locker for the ZF 9.25, but it will be a while, so do I wait?

Thats exactly what I was thinking, the 2009-2010 would hold the trutrac and bolt up to my truck but not sure about the ABS sensors as it only had one reluctor wheel unlike mine that has two.

Just talked to Eaton again today and they said the ZF 9.25 Trutrac is a about 6-12 months out, I have way to little patience for that, I'll probably just buy the ZF conversion parts, sadly I don't trust anyone around here to do it though.

You need the earlier AAM gears or a dual bolt pattern ring gear . Check with Matt at Moes,he should have everything you need except the axle,and I think he'll price match .

I have a 2014 Crew cab 2WD that's going in the shop on Monday to have both of these items done also. I'm really looking forward to getting it done to make pulling my TT easier.

I have a 2014 Crew cab 2WD that's going in the shop on Monday to have both of these items done also. I'm really looking forward to getting it done to make pulling my TT easier.

When I talk to shops around here about having this done, they look at me like I'm stupid, kinda getting on my nerves.
