I have the 6spd with 3.55...I had a loaner 3.21 with 8spd. 8spd 3.21 was a ton better IMO ...

With the weight of these trucks and the 8spd it really isnt a ton of diff between the 2.

How do you tell if you have 3.21 or 3.92? Would the 3.92 show up in the options list on the window sticker and if it isn't there then it is the 3.21?

I have the 3.21's and would trade up to the 3.92's in a heartbeat. The 3.21's are quick dont get me wrong, but the difference to me behind both trucks is enough for me to want the 3.92's

Id pay someone to swap them out. I would pay some dollars to the donor!

And anyone comment on 3:21s with the 8 speed and larger tires? I want to level and go up one size to a 285/70/17. I'm worried about a loss in power with the slightly larger tires and high gears. I already think the 321s are a little too high for "fun" but are more logical for gas mileage and commuting.

I wish I had paid more attention when I leased the truck. I would have opted for the lower gears. We will see what happens in a few years when I either trade it for a new one or keep it.
