After a long fall of hunting deep in the wilderness and watching my buddy blow a sidewall on 2 separate occasions (Duratracs); I've really started to think about carrying a spare. I have done some searching and it seems everyone agrees that a plug kit and compressor is the way to go. But that is obviously not going to fix a full sidewall blowout. Where we hunt there is no service and its an hour drive in on dirt roads riddled with sharp granite rocks, one of the reasons I went with the 3-ply KO2s. This brings up a few questions that I hope some of the more experience Ram owners can shed some light on...

First, will a 35" tire fit in the spare well? I am guessing no, but there are some pretty creative ******** on this forum. I know I would have to modify the carrier saddle that attaches to the cable to fit my wheel.
Second, can anyone recommend a vertical spare tire carrier bracket for the bed that would fit a 35" tire? I dont want a bracket that fits in the middle of the bed and takes up the entire bed of the truck.
I would only really need it in the fall, so a hitchgate is out of the question. But something like this would be perfect:

What about a “Roof Rack”? Best bet may to have something Fabbed up for the bed.

If you have on board air you can air down the spare put it in stock spare location. When you need it drop it down and then air it up.

I don't know of any vertical carriers but I'll look. There are roof baskets with spare carriers. That will most likely be the way I go eventually

This is the same as the link in my first post, have you used it? do you think it would work with a 35?

I used something much more archaic in a 1970 W20, and it held a 35ish spare for a few years without a problem in a bed that was 30 years old.

My 2017 has a full size spare 285 60 20. Looks like there's just enough room to swap the tire for a 285 65 20, which should be close enough to get you home in a pinch easily.
