So I installed the mileage tune on my 5.7. When I first start up in the morning, it wants to stay in 1st gear for up to almost 15 mph, then it'll shift hard into 2nd. After it warms up it's okay. I haven't bought the adv trans tuning. If the PO of the tuner bought it, does it go with the tuner? Or is that based on your account only? I plan on switching to the 91 tune when this tank of gas runs out. Can I run 93 in the 91 tune?

Thanks

Trans tuning doesn't go with tuner you have to buy it. As for the shifting when I first installed my sc way back when I thought the same thing. It deff holds the gear longer but you get used to it. Personally i always thought my truck ran better on the 87 tune with 89 gas.

So you can run a higher octane in a tune than what's required, but not lower than required, right? For example, 89 with 87 tune, or 93 with 91 tune, but you can't do 89 with 91 tune, is this correct?

Thanks for the reassurance about the shifting. I am getting used to it.

Well so I forgot they only have 87, 89, 93, and 93 was .50 cents more, so I stuck with 89. After doing 28 miles of commute a day, 80% highway and the other 20% in traffic, I got 13.9 mpg on the mileage tune. Seems pretty dismal. Only other thing I changed was I set my tire size from 29 to 30 since I have 265s and not 245s. It was a full gas tank of 87 with the mileage tune. Any thoughts?

Well I just wanted to see if it would be any better! lol Tomorrow during lunch at work I'm going to put the 87 tune on to see what's up with that one. After this tank of gas I'll be using the 91 tune. I just thought it'd be better than stock mpg. I could compare it to driving with tow/haul on all the time to keep MDS off w/o a tuner lol!

Switched to 87 tune and no mds. Under the advanced options, I have the ability to change the shift scheduling, is that not the trans tuning? Or is the trans tuning even more options. I know this option isn't supposed to move with the tuner, but from what I saw I could manipulate all of the shift points. On lunch I'm going to check it out a bit more and I'll get back to you later.

I'll get a pic of the menu when I can

Update: So the 87 tune drove a lot like stock. When I was going around 49mph for a good half mile, the RPMs dropped like they used to with MDS kicking in, is that just OD kicking on? Or did my tuner not disable MDS properly? I was rolling at 70mph @1550 rpms, does that sound about right for non-mds with 265/70r17s?
