Cool  They can make some pretty good power if done right. I wouldn't put one in a 3/4 ton though...

I still don't think it would be enough for a half ton even
They do have a good bit of torque but eh, why a 4 when you can fit a 6

If I can ever find one, it's going in my Blazer. So I'll let you know. Lol. 5.9 would just be too dang heavy.

I helped a buddy of mine put one in his old CJ5 ad it was a monster but it only weighed just a bit over 3,400 lbs I think
We wheeled it with 5:13 gears that were in it with a Buick v-6 and the thing could drag anything behind it but would tach out at 45ish mph if I remember right
3:73s were even a steep gear but it was mostly used in the woods, 3:55 or even 3:21 would have been a great DD gear (it also had 37s though)

Why he didn't just trade it for a factory cummins ram instead of doing the swap. But I wonder how it compares to the hemi

Truckless...
I have thought about goin and tryin to take it for a spin, but haven't found any time to do so.

There is no way that truck would be any sort of fast, even with those bigger injectors and turbo. It has to be a dog, max 250-300hp maybe.

BUT, I bet it gets really decent fuel mileage for a 7000lb truck lol

Might be a dog compared to your truck. Trouble today is people are use to the stupid high numbers trucks are putting out because of the horsepower wars going on between the big 3. Hell, my old K20 from the factory was 130 hp and 240 lb/ft tq. Now that's a dog. I'd take 250-300 hp anyday.

Now that I think about it, I believe my brother's 02 Cummins is rated at 245 hp.

It is likely in the high 200 HP range. Which is more than enough for a daily driver.

I always wanted to swap one into my 1500. I like the old mechanical injection engines, especially with a nice 6 sp behind them so you can keep it in its wee little power band.
