I had a question about wether or not I should upgrade the timing chain and tensioner. I will be using LS 1515ML beehive valve springs and roughly 11.3:1 compression turning 6100 rpm also if I need upgraded keepers and retainers. I'm already in more than I care to admit, so if anyone has done something like this your input would be very helpful. If any more information would help someone help me I'll be more than happy to provide it. This block is a Vvt block 2009+

Timing set is pretty cheap insurance while you’ve already got it apart. There’s much better cam kits out there btw. Moe’s, MMX, SDPC, & FRP to name a few

Do alittle more research first,TSP isn't exactly at the top of the scale in regards to hemi cam kits.Do not use their lifters, make sure you specify you want the OEM non-Mds lifters

I am using hellcat lifters and the 3/8 chromolly Texas speed pushrods but I've already got the cam and parts, i know a lot of people use COMP cams. I don't know were to get a better timing set or chain for the Vvt hemis it's all for the pre eagle stuff. My First time putting an aftermarket cam in a 5.7 mainly went with Texas speed because there cam was cheaper.

In regards to cams you get what you pay for,and cheaper isn't usually the way to go. It costs alot to upgrade the VVT timing chain and related components,so just replace them with OEM components if it's a high milege engine,if it's a lower milege engine, you could probably get away with using the original parts as long as the guides are in good shape

Right that makes sense in regard to the cam, with this engine the only original internal parts I'm reusing are the rocker arms rods crank and valves

So would you say

HRT Stage 2 Cam for '09+ 5.7/6.4L HEMI

Would be the better choice even though it will make less peak Hp, or
The Cam: COMP Cams HRT Stage 3 (224/234)
Edit: I just realized since I had the heads milled .020 to increase the compression I don't think I can get one of comp cams kits because to my knowledge they don't offer different push rods I would have to buy all the parts separately.
I think I might stick with what I have now only because I already have all the parts and that sounds like a hassle. Though having more power lower in the rpm range offered by the HRT cam would be prefferable

MMX / FRP / SDPC all have better cam grinds then Comps off the shelf grinds,Comp doesn't have as good a rep these days as they did 30 years ago. You're better off dealing with outfits who specialize in the later VVT Hemi.
If you already have the parts use them, but if you ever have to do it again, make some phone calls to outfits who specialize in the hemi.
