So donor hemi ripped down and minor clean up. Then wrapped in a bag to await parts.

Parts I have ready to go:
Long tubes
Full 3" dual exhaust with magnaflows
Comp cam
Ported heads
Upgraded valve springs
Valves re-sealed and seated by machine shop.
Full set of gaskets
Piston rings (don't think I'm going to do this part)
Upgraded head bolts
Stage 8 header bolts
Full wiring harness from donor (incase there are minor differences between my 04 truck and the 05 motor)

Parts I still need to order:
Cam bolt
Crank bolt (harmonic damp)
06-08 valve covers to switch over to cop no wires
06-08 coils
Spark plugs
Oil
Coolant
Ground braids
180* thermostat
Hp tuners mpvi3

Parts inspected and not getting replaced yet:
Pistons
Cylinder walls (inspected and look so good i don't know if I'm going to bother with piston rings)
Rod bearings
Main bearings
Rocker assemblies
Lifters
Water pump (just doing a gasket)

Parts I'm undecided on:
Push rods
Upgrade oil pump
Upgraded timing set

I feel like I'm missing something. Anyone see something that should be there and isn't?

I'm sure there will be some sort of shop supplies that I'll need. But I already bought a case of brake cleaner and a fresh thing off assembly lube.

I did pick up a new grill from a wrecker.

You don't need the harness, your stock harness will plug right into that engine. The variations are at the PCM end of things and unless you're converting to a 2005 PCM it doesn't matter.
Unless your soldering skills are extremely good or you have a full set of Molex tools and connectors, you'll need the pigtail adapters to use the later coil packs. The early and later coils use different connectors.
If you're going with an aftermarket cam then you need pushrods to match, as that cam will be based on the 6.1 cam base circle, so either 6.1 pushrods or whatever Comp recommends.
You will have gaps with that grille at the bottom corners because it is designed to work with the angled front bumper of an 06-08 and not the flat of the 02-05. You could put the Sport bumper cover from an 06-08 on and it would match, but then you'd have to change headlights & fenders to go with that lol. Or just live with the gaps.

I'm unclear exactly how close of a match I have. I have a late 04 and my pcm is the same as the 05. So in theory I shouldn't have to change anything except for the coil pack project. But I have a full harness from the donor motor just as a bit of insurance

Not sure what I want to do yet. Probably end up going comp rods to match my cam and have that sort of peace of mind. Like I said in dm, comp recommends a size almost the same as the factory 5.7. But I think I'm just going to order them from comp and not have to worry about it.

Don't know why in my head I pictured you as having moroso covers or something like that
Ha! Have you seen how much those things cost? Screw that. I did the conversion a long time ago.

I went with MSD Blaster Coil Packs, NGK Irridium plugs, and Taylor ThunderVolt 8.2mm spark plug wires in my '04 5.7l Hemi about 10 years ago. I pulled the plugs last month and they look like I put them in last year. Might be an option you would consider.

Sorry I have been absent, very busy round the house. Still haven't started assembly as I'm waiting on funds to order up the rest of my parts. Oil pump and new crank bolt is here, but I'm not ready to tear the motor all the way apart and start the pre build cleaning.

Couple more months of not having my truck and I'm finally getting busy on this. Still waiting on a couple things and I'm sure I'll need to stop for a bit to do some work around the homestead, but20230610_100103.jpg20230606_192623.jpg20230606_192642.jpg

For comparison, this is how the headers looked before a TON of work. They got wire wheeled, ground, welded, ground more, acid bathed, torched, degreased, primed painted and cured. 20230611_233210.jpg

Got some more parts prepped for paint. And I FINALLY have all the gaskets I need to assemble. 20230620_105151.jpg

Not sure why I'm bothering to make these valve covers pretty, my plan is to replace them with 06+ style.

Not entirely sure if those will help. I also want to hide the wires and such so I need to figure out routing and how much room I have. Sure would be nice to just plug and play and not have to get into pins and soldering and such

I swear some times the world just wants to see the old me....

Summit sent the wrong oil pump. I can finally sit undisturbed in my garage with all the parts and the first thing I grab is the wrong flipping part.
