It all has to come apart and get gaskets and all the fasteners. Just a couple here and there to hold it all together but....

It was a two step process. First they got done in "aluminum" colored engine enamel, then they got covered in Duplicolor Metalcast.

Wiring harness extensions "come in handy" (yes those are their words) for running the coil packs down facing. Guess what rabbit hole this sent me down.... hint downward facing coil packs :emotions122:FB_IMG_1687434645432.jpg

Spent the day at Sea World with the family so no updates on my motor or my truck.

Last night I did get it all back apart. Then i installed head gaskets and water pump. Started to tq all my bolts down.
So far tq- spec:
Timing set
Cam
Oil pump
Heads
And 18 of the 20 Rocker bolts. I need to pull these back off and figure out some helicoil magic. I was so worried about blocking the oil passages that I set two of them too deep for the bolts to reach. Rookie mistake and I have no clue how I'm going to fix it. I think I need to drill them out or do the welder trick and pray I don't fill the oil passage. It was getting late and I should have stopped, but I was making progress for once.

I also got my water pump put back together, and the pulley back on my tensioner. 20230622_231428.jpg20230622_231820.jpg

Anyone want to weigh in on these valve train marks? Looks pretty good to me. But I definitely want a second opinion

Helicoil issue solved. All rocker assemblies torqued. It's all together except the valve covers and the tb. Time to make room in the garage for the truck.

This is slightly more of a headache than I was hoping for.
20230626_061815.jpg

I'm almost better off taking each pin out of the big connectors and running each connector separately. So many wires in mix and matched order. The throttle body for example is half in the injector harness and half in the intake manifold harness. All the pins are in the intake connector but they taped them in two different groups. I guess that's why I decided to clean up the wiring in the first place. But wow. Just.... WOW.

Primer too obviously, but right to left.

Using the Florida sun to help "bake" the enamel while I use my shop to help the Mrs get her raised garden built. I swear I worked less when I had a job. :doh2:

Kinda hope it's a setting (that I can't see) and not that I hate this thing.

Le manual:
k) INVERT. This menu option inverts the colors on the display. If the display
currently has a black background with blue characters for example, inverting
will make it blue with black characters. A dark background is called a
negative image, and is ideal for low light situations such as driving at night.
A light colored or white background is called a positive image, and is easier to
read in bright sunlight.
l) DIMMER. Selecting “Dimmer” will take you to a new screen with a
brightness value displayed, between 1-3. 1 is the dimmest, 3 the brightest.
Using the left button you can raise this value until you reach 3 after which it
will restart back at 1. Once the desired brightness is reached press the right
button to return to the menu screen.

Seemingly silly question..... is there a factory 5.7 hemi fuel rail that goes around the intake manifold instead of up and over? I've found countless aftermarket ones, but if I can junk yard source a set cheap enough it would be great.

All the OEM hemi setups go over the top except for the Hellcat and 6.1. If memory serves, the 6.1 rails can be used on the early 5.7 intake manifolds.

Thanks I'll look into it. I know aftermarket is an option if need be, but that may be a hot tip

I can't believe what a visual difference this makes. I think the engine is going to really like the extreme crankcase venting too:rotflmao:20230629_160131.jpg

Running out of time. Have some big stuff to get done in my shop. So I need to start getting this project buttoned up. Have a bunch of supplies coming today to get the wiring harness all cleaned up. Got the engine bay of the truck degreased so I can work in cleaner area. Have so many things in the works that I don't even remember what else I've done.
