Good afternoon,
My 2006 5.9 started making an obnoxious squeal when in upper RPMs pulling a heavy load. I see soot on the head between #1 as well as #5. I'm guessing both are from exhaust manifold gasket leaks during high boost.
So....I have a new set of gaskets and tried to replace them. Problem is that there is a solid tube headed towards the heater core and it has a bracket bolted to the lower stud on #6. I removed the two bolts on the side of the head that secure this and can only get a wiggle out of this thing. I can't get the bracket off the stud to take it out and replace the gasket.
Quick trip to youtube and all I came up with was a guy that cut the bracket in half, then welded it back together (I'd prefer to not do this as I'm sure there is a way to get this out of the way....I just can't figure it out).
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Jim
