Looking into buying a 5th wheel, and it includes a Reese RE18 receiver hitch. I wanted to get a Reese puck system, but they do not make one for my truck (2018 2500 Short). That said, what are the best available under bed puck systems out there currently?

I read a lot of good things about B&W; which is what I went with. In full disclosure I haven’t used it yet for any real world data/info.

I have the B&W turnover ball with the companion If I could do it again, I'd skip the companion and replace the trailer's pin Box with a Reese Goosebox AMD just install the B&W turnover ball on the truck.

I dont know anything about the Reese you mentioned.

Whatever I start install in the bed, needs to be compatible with the Reese RE 18. The fifth wheel has the Reese Sidewinder on it.

Ok, just checked out the RE18. You need rails to install it, so here would be a solution to make it work and not have permanent rails mounted.

You can get the Curt gooseneck kit that installs under the bed, and then Curt makes the X5 rail. It attaches in thegooseneck, then your Reese RE18 that you have will attach to the rails. I looked at this option as well when I bought.

The other option is to install the factory puck system, but it is a bit more installation that an underbed gooseneck.

Also, that X5 rail system will work with the B&W turnover ball if you get the square shank. They make a couple different options it appears!

I would highly recommend B&W. They are super strong, and made in Kansas, not Shanghai. For compatability, I'd call them directly. They have always been helpful when I called.

I had NO desire for a long bed - since I wanted my $60K new truck to be parked in the garage.

So I had to go with a slider.
It’s not cheap but one of the highest quality.

Another vote for the B/W slider. I love mine. Their support is first rate if you ever have a question. I called once for something and within a couple minutes was talking to an engineer who knew my hitch down to the weld width.
