This symptom sounds electrical, back in the day when we used to upgrade our plug wires to performance "non-resistor" type there often would be a buzzing noise that would mirror the revs of the engine thru the radio.
My guess would be a faulty resistor in the system somewhere or a bad ground.

Just a guess based on past experience.....

Other than having 12 recalls and the shocks giving out before I reached 40k miles, nothing to report!

All I know is it wasn't there when I drove it off the lot and in less than 15,000 miles it slowly got louder and louder. My 2011 2500 had the same issue.

Did anything ever get resolved with your truck. I have a '18 3500 Big horn 6.4 and have had this same annoying sound. It does seem to change tones when the steering wheel is turned slightly in either direction. The sound is a bit louder when the temp outside is cold. My dealer pretty much blew me off when I asked them to look into it. It sucks to drive around and and instead of hearing the sound of my engine I hear what I can only describe as a power steering pump failing.

Hey Jeff,

I certainly understand why this would be concerning. If you are able to get an appointment scheduled, perhaps even with a different local dealer, please know that we would be more than happy to connect you with a case specialist for an additional layer of support through that process. Our team is just a private message away to get the process started.

I know this is an old thread, but did anyone figure out the issue? I just recently started having the issue on a 2015 2500 6.4L that I bought last summer. Already changed the water pump and clutch fan. I know its not the transmission making the noise, my only culprits left are A/C compressor and hydroboost/Power steering pump and high pressure lines. I had read somewhere that the nylon lining separates from the rubber and makes a whining noise. But the noise doesn't follow turning, it follows engine rpm. almost like there is a supercharger on the truck (I wish, but sadly there isn't)

Interesting,

Iv got a 2016 with 103,000 miles. Original shocks. Still in good shape. Probably should replace them soon anyway though

2016 ram 2500 hemi with 205k on the clock. Definitely has hydro brakes. I know this sounds crazy but my noise that sounds similar is the fan for the a/c and heat. Makes a noise that will drive you crazy once you notice it. Has anyone with the noise tried shutting the a/c fan off. Mine does it even at the lowest setting.

I solved the problem a long time ago and did not even know it. I got both of these installed within the first 12,000 miles and it fixed the noise

So,

Originally, I had the same set up with a magna flow instead of the muffler delete and still had the resonator. The “in-cab” drone was fairly annoying at highway speeds.

I sold the magna flow set up, put on this muffler delete and cut off the resonator, it’s actually WAY quieter in the cab this way VS the magnaflow setup. The miffler is basically under the passenger rear seat.

Normal driving it sounds really good, like a deep rumble, but not excessively loud in my opinion. But when you get on it, it definitely gets loud.

It does not have that really loud snap crackle pop sound that you hear on like the 5.3v8. It is still more of a low/moderately loud deep sound versus loud and cackley like the smaller VS give.

I can get a video for you of cold start up. You knwo howcold start up is. Its a bit noisy. Especially when it is single digits outside.

Crazy, I tried that.. have an MBRP dual side exit exhaust, and put some 38x13.5x20 Ridge Grapplers on it. Still making that "whine". I even added some "questionably legal" lights on my truck. (shhh they have a red/blue strobe setting)

I did actually try killing the A/C. noise is still there.. the only time i don't hear it, is when the radio is turned up. I really wish someone had figured it out. my 07 5.7 Hemi didn't make this whine.
