I have my 6.4L out of my 2500 Ram ATM, had a bad / weak lifter that was causing all kinds of racket.
Anyways so just in the process of collecting parts and I I'm looking at massaging this thing a little while I got it out. Looking at doing a MDS delete and cam swap (have headers and a couple other things on the list as well). So from looking around it seems like the popular choices (at least for the 5.7Ls) seems to be between the MMX, Comp Cams, and Green Racing cams. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with a cam swap on a 6.4L, seems like there's a couple out there, but very few real "real world" reviews that I can find, but I know they're obviously a bit fewer and far between. I tow almost exclusively with this, so I'm really looking for a flatter torque curve and more on the bottom end, the only cam that specifically mentions that is the MMX 6.4L BGE cam, but again I'm not sure maybe there's something better.
If anyone can chime in with their experience(s) that would be awesome, thanks!

Also if someone has experience with the comp cams lifters vs "hellcat lifters" that would be great as well, from the pictures they look a bit better (similar in design to the johnson ones), but maybe the Chrysler ones are the way to go, idk.

Thanks!

I know Flyin' Ryan ships up here to Alberta ;)

Hellcat lifters all the way. I wouldn't touch anything else. You also need your PCM unlocked and HP Tuners

Checkout the High Performance Ram FB page. lots of 6.4 posts on there. Just buy everything at once with whoever you choose to tune your truck as they will send you a startup tune as well.

I know this post is a bit old but want to chime in... I have been doing a lot of research on this topic and I'm still undecided on what cam to get... but when this happens I will change the lifters with MDS plugs and also the oil pump will be changed too. Flyin Ryan has a cam I'm interested in but mostly they have a complete kit to go with it. I'm more interested in a "truck cam" whereas most cams we see are for performance, so as I learn more about LSA and other important factors that constitute a "truck cam" , find a good compromise for torque performance that's better then the MDS cam in the truck. If someone has experience with this I'd be very open to hearing what cams have improved this 6.4 in towing performance.

If you're going with the hellcat pump, swap your stock bypass spring into it,and if you're going with the HV Melling pump, use the lower pressure bypass spring, otherwise you might fight oil pressure codes.
Talk to Matt Fikac at Moes and Ryan Hogan at FRP,and pick their brains on what's a good cam for your application. Run your truck across a weigh scale and get it's weight, and make sure you know what gears it has, before getting on the phone to either outfit.
The phone is still a good way to talk to places about a cam specific to your application, but make sure you have your truck details on hand, and how big a load you'll be towing if you want a cam for towing, and know exactly what you want out of the truck

That's awesome advice @Wild one , good thing to know about the oil pumps. Sounds right about getting on the phone as I do have all that information you mentioned, just not financial ready to make that call yet. So studying and reading what others do is it. It is on the list but tranny first.
