I think it's especially important because we do not put the filter extensions on these transmissions with the deeper pans
Kind of hard to see and it's completely at the wrong angle, but here's a pic of the dipstick tube next to the spin on filter. If memory serves, I believe it stuck down slightly lower than the spin on filter but not as low as the intake tube on the screen filter. Unfortunately I didn't take any pics of that.

Never thought of this, thanks for bringing this up!86608ecc56838965c7d2db85d49e77df.jpg

That would be even better because then it would be guaranteed that the filter is sucking up fluid.

Yep , I think Hemi's picture ( I zoomed in ) shows the dip stick level or ever slightly above the spin on filter WHICH does ensure anything on the dip stick means your sump filter is definitely submerged in fluid !....ab42b7a019be0c40b23dd6b11712f84a.jpg

First impressions of Redline C+ are good. Not saying anything about temps yet but i have notice a significant differance in how quick the truck shift from one gear to the next. Way less hessitation/ lingering with the torque converter when shifting.

For about a month before i did the change i logged outside temps with transmission temps on my drive to work in the morning. Some noted as highway travel and others noted as backroad. I will do the same with the Redline and deep pan once im confident the fluid levels are were i want. Then ill take an average of each setup as well as a few other ideas i have with the info. Im excited to share but i need to do it right a give it some time.

EDIT: The only thing that is going to screw up this info a little bit is it starting to get warmer in the mornings but it'll still give me a good idea

Anyone with the 65RFE 4X4 XSMN , could you please tell me the p/n of the OEM filters , seal & sealant that you used ?

Just so I can verify my parts guy doesn't give me the wrong thing tomorrow
Also can I use the RL C+ in my Xsfer case ?

This is what I was given at my dealer: Main filter: 5013470AC, Spin on Filter: 5179267AC, Mopar RTV: 5010884AA. It was a little over $70.

You can also get all three on amazon for less: https://www.amazon.com/DODGE-545RFE...r=8-1&keywords=545rfe+transmission+filter+kit
I chose to pay a little more and get it from the dealer so there was a record they couldn't deny of my getting the OEM filters.

If you have the 44-45 tcase, you can use C+

Best price I have found when you consider the free shipping and you buy more than one. Even better than Amazon or Jegs. I got 2 (for a total of 3 gallons)for when i do my final drain and fill to make my 66rfe closer to 100% Redline C+.

If your hesitant about useing anything besides ATF+4, this stuff will make you a believer that fluid DOES matter. Talk about smooth shifting.

U&A, so you're definitely feeling a difference with C+ vs the factory fill? Glad it's not just the placebo effect with mine

Lunchtime !!

Ok,
So before redline c+ There were a few things happening that I didn't like that the redline has cured. When in tow hual mode if I was slowing down on a downhill slope The transition from 2nd to 1st was a little harder than I liked. And also as I've mentioned before, The torque converter really seemed to enjoy slowing down the transition while upshifting. When I say that I mean after it shifted it would very slowly apply back the torque and power from the engine.

With the redline all those problems are completely gone and all shifting in both directions runs quick and smooth. Also don't forget that I've only done one fluid and filter change I still have to do one more drain and refill to have more redline in my transmission

The one thing I have noticed is I do not think I'm going to see much difference in temperature at all even with the deep pan. Some mornings it seems like it is running cooler and other mornings it seems like it's exactly the same. Basically what I think I'm going to do with my loged information is i'm going to break it up in about 10° categories and then average those out.

For example,
Outside temps from 30-39
Outside temps from 40-49
Outside temps from 50-59

So on.....

And in each catagory i will show average transmission temperature with OEM fluid and redline fluid.

Just a quick update. Did my 2nd and last fluid change for a while (did the filters the first time) on friday night with Redline C+.

Saturday i was on the highway and the outside temp was 72 and my trans temp never broke 172. That is normal for the 66RFE.

Today i did another highway trip with my dads tandum axle flat bed trailer loaded with his ford tractor. Total weight was around 4500lbs. The outside temp was 72 again......the trans temp never broke 172. :happy107:

Went on a trip with the family over the long weekend and my trans temps struggled to get to 130. Ambient temp was about 75. Previously it would creep up to 135+ in those temps. Redline C+ and the MH pan definitely drop trans temps

I've put around 4k miles on mine since switching out the majority of the fluid to C+ (plus new filters). My trans temp rarely exceeds 130F. Keep in mind that even though I dropped the pan and replaced the filters, there is still a fair amount of Mopar ATF in there, so it's more of a blend[emoji19].

I plan on doing another drain/fill here shortly....should give me a pretty high percentage of RL C+.

But I can also confirm lower temps as well.
