I'm looking for some help with my 8.4 upgrade i did.
the radio i installed is a 68306656av from a 2018 Cherokee. after entering the theft code the radio works on the first key cycle. if its turned off it will come back on but is blank and none functional, when turned off again the splash screen dose its power down routine. and just repeats this until the battery is disconnected. any reason these radios will do this? before i had the code it was turning on and off like normal. i left it for a few hours thinking it may be pulling info in from bcm, hvac, rfh and so on but it continued to have the same issue.

i installed this in my 2015 ram 1500 that came equipped with an 8.4 nav radio.

the Cherokee unit is also a nav radio.
pn 68306656av, hardware part number cnsc77n3fx, software version 22.34.11 and the application version is long winded.. usa-aso-8.4-qr-40-1-0-20220821-q0j0
it appears to be a replacement unit built in may 2023 but from what i can tell part number is indeed for a 2018.

The original radio did not do this.
Also this radio did not do this until the code was entered. That doesn't sound like it's defective to me. It sounds more like a software or at settings issue.

Every 2015 Ram truck, I have ever attempted to do anything electronically with has not cooperated. If I hear it's a 2015, I no longer offer to help and avoid making any electronic changes. Ram did something in the 2015 model that made them very finicky to change.

My reommendation, I'd go back to your stock radio. I don't believe it's the replacement radio, I believe it's something with the 2015 model year wiring or modules.

I'm sorry for your troubles

Well that's not exactly what i wanted to here And here I thought I was going to throw this truck away because it's an ecodisaster, not because it's a 15..

It should work and is on the latest firmware. Before proceeding with anything though, where did you get it from and is it within the return window?

It is none return able from an ebay salvage yard seller. They included the vin of the vehicle it came from. And using the vin on the uconnect sit it said the firmware is up to date or no update available, don't remember which.
I'm wondering if the vin difference is causing issues like it won't accept it or something. I have alfaobd but haven't made changes to anything.

Try connecting to the radio with AlfaOBD and inspecting the VIN. I believe there is a VIN rewrite in there but before doing anything run the "reset ECU" option in the radio wit Alfa.

Ok just tried, the rest with alfa results in the same as a key cycle
I can't find a vin read option. I'm messing with it now and cleared out codes and key cycled it. I have a code of b223b that returned, "vehicle configuration mismatch"
Is that vin related?

Yes looking more vin related. It won't take my vin. Yet if I click read system info for the radio my vin shows in the info.

I got a spam call while I had the key on screen came up and call came through speakers.

Yes, I've seen similar errors for VIN mismatch when folks are trying to program other used parts. I'll connect to my radio shortly and see if I can find something more specific...

Ok, on my Android version of Alfa, I would run the bottom three in the listed order to reset VIN, write VIN, then reset the ECU. I would also clear any stored codes (maybe before resetting the ECU).
