i can enter it but it wont load. Will it let you enter your VIN?
Not that I'm aware of, I've had multiple 2018+ radios installed in my 2014 Ram and the only compatibility issue I saw with one is the compass heading would blank in the cluster with one particular UAS radio installed.i can enter it but it wont load.
am i missing something on installing an 18 8.4 into a 15 model? like in 18 or 19 you need a security buy pass to load a tune is there something of the sort for backward compatibility? i didn't find anything in the old thread i was reading before i got this but that is 200 pages and 4,000 posts i was searching it not reading it word for word..
If OP cannot enter VIN, all he is ever gonna get is mismatch, argh, BUT U the expert, just my Boird Brain opinion. Not that I'm aware of, I've had multiple 2018+ radios installed in my 2014 Ram and the only compatibility issue I saw with one is the compass heading would blank in the cluster with one particular UAS radio installed.
Yes looking more vin related. It won't take my vin. Yet if I click read system info for the radio my vin shows in the info.
I got a spam call while I had the key on screen came up and call came through speakers.
It may be the case, but if I read his previous post correctly the radio is already reporting the correct VIN, it just won't let him manually reset and/or enter it.If OP cannot enter VIN, all he is ever gonna get is mismatch, argh, BUT U the expert, just my Boird Brain opinion.
The climate will change once it reads the BCM. It will do this every time power is lost. Usually takes several hours/power cycles to settle in.Put the original radio in works as it should. The original radio will alow me to write the vin to the radio. It still will not alow me to reset vin values.
I found I can not write the vin to bcm with either radio or no radio. I'm working on a battery disconnect and try again with the original radio.
While the system is pissed off I found unplugging the radio and plugging it back in acts the same as a key cycle.
Perhaps the there is a different module that is not accepting the new radio? What modules could be locked?
If I do a battery disconnect and then fire it up so the radio is on it works great every single function works.
Possibly with the exception of it shows dual climate and I have single manual.
it is not, i only entered the anti-theft code one time. it unlocked right away and has not asked for the codes sense. It's not asking for the anti-theft code every time right? For reference, entering the anti-theft code is what writes the current VIN from the BCM to the radio.
Last thing I can think of is to go to this site and compare your year/model donor year model to see if the pinout of the radio differs slightly? Maybe the CANBUS wires? You'll want to search both vehicles and compare the radio C1 wires.it is not, i only entered the anti-theft code one time. it unlocked right away and has not asked for the codes sense.
I'm going to memorize that url!
You should be able to flash backward to any firmware between. 28.3 and 40.1 so far. Which older one did you try?So found 40.1 and answered my own question there. It will not allow an update to the same or older version.
Looking like this thing is the equivalent of a brick but without the strength of one.
Ok, don't try to flash any further. My guess is that while that part looks right the specific part number simply isn't compatible with a RAM. I'd turn around and sell that one (you can give the buyer the unlock code as that won't change. Then purchase one of the specific known good part numbers from this thread:Changed usb's and tried 34.2 and 30.24 both now give a message stating software not compatible with this vehicle. Is there a version difference between ram and jeep? Do I need a 30 something from jeep to try doing this?
ok before i go looking for another one i never thought to ask will a usa radio work in a Canadian truck? i completely forgot to ask that before, my truck was from Canada and brought to us.Ok, don't try to flash any further.
