The 8.4an in my 2015 Laramie just crapped out today. Was driving down the road and went to place a call via Bluetooth and the screen just went blank. Took it to the dealership and all it showed was OFFLINE on their computer. Looks like I get to drive around without radio while they order a new one. Not what I want to do in my brand new truck :-/

Unfortunately it happens. I've never seen a dealer stock radios. They are usually shipped from the vendor and have to be preprogrammed with the satellite info.

It's not something that can be kept in stock, the radios have to have the sattelite radio info programmed into them. Which isn't something the dealer can do.

unfortunately these radios have been a big pain in the a$$. they have had more problems than you would want to know about. however by 15 (since they first came out in the rams in 13) one would have thought they would have fixed it.

As integral as these radios have become to the electronics of the truck, be happy the truck runs while you wait.

Still waiting to hear from the dealership about a new radio. It's very annoying - no idea what the temp is on - if the AC is on or not (the lights don't show up) and no radio as I drive in town.

The dealer said 2-3 weeks for a new radio - needless to say not too happy. Called Chrysler to get them involved already.

That's about what it takes. That is like a worst case time frame though. Sometimes quicker. What did Chrysler do for you?

Usually doesn't take that long, as jwheeler said that's a worst case scenario. I'm not sure calling chrysler is going to help any or even necessary, only thing that could be done is to place the order as VOR (Vehicle Off Road) status. Sometimes that can help get parts faster, not sure about radios.

according to my dealer they go through a lot of radios, you'd think they would start stocking them. really worried about what's gonna happen once my warranty is gone

It is not something the dealer can stock. They have to be ordered right from the company that makes them and come programmed with vehicle specific information.

New radio got installed today (they had to take one out of a truck on the lot since it would be 3 or so weeks for a new one) - got 10 minutes down the road and it crapped out again.

When they hook it up to the computer it just shows the radio as being "OFFLINE".

Left the truck there overnight - they are going to look at some stuff tomorrow. Really upsetting on a truck that's only a month old :-(

Yeah that would drive me crazy! Hopefully they find out something simple and get you back in your nice ride!
