Just to further clarify the neutral cable for anyone else that may stumble upon this thread. If you're not going to use a cable and just rely on a screwdriver or pry bar for activating neutral, make sure you have some heavy duty zip ties as the lever does not stay in neutral once put into neutral, it springs back to park. You would need to activate neutral, tighten the zip ties and then you can keep the pre-sized/tightened zip tie setup and lever of choice in your vehicle, should you ever need it.

Trick for making braided lines, pull the zipties as tight as you can, then use a thin cut-off disc in an angle grinder to cut the hose between the zipties.

Great thread guys, appreciate all the knowledge transfer here. I finally dropped a new motor in my 2013 Ram 1500 2WD Tradesman, secured my 8HP70, driveshaft and shifter. Still need to source the misc cables and build a harness as my truck doesn't have the necessary wiring waiting for me. However, I do have a full 2022 engine wiring harness that I can grab the tranny connectors off of. Just need to fab up a drive shaft bearing support or find one in a wrecking yard. Have my HP Tuner ready to go, already played with it to complete my MDS delete on the new 5.7. Just need to find an OEM 8HP70 tune and hopefully will be swapping the tranny in by Spring.

I'm curious about the improved drive-ability, is it overall snappiness that improves or just the shifts? The 6-speed is leaving a lot to be desired as far as general peppiness with a new crate motor in front of it.

It's a night and day difference especially if you get it tuned by flying Ryan and add the zip kit :favorites13:

The way this transmission holds gears is incredible. I only got my truck up to 185 km and it was still pulling. :driver: but being on a 6" lift on 37s made it scary AF. :anitoof:

The 8HP70 always seems to know what gear is should be in, and always has another gear (or four) in reserve when you give it gas...if you want more acceleration.

Gear shifts are pretty much seamless. There is no drop in power during a gear change due to how the next gear solonods are engaged before the prior gears are released.

Check out my swap thread, I talk a bit about how much better the overall drivability is as well. I have a light throttle acceleration video that will be eye opening.

Any chance you could share a link to the groups/posts here? I've yet to see any tech/info on anyone swapping into a 2500.

Hunt up Russell at Sound German Auto, and give him a phone call.I don't see the swap being that much differant from a 1500 though.New crossmember / new driveshaft / transmission cooler lines / shifter knob and wiring etc,and then some computor programing
