Lights at shut off last about long enough for me to get out of the truck and close the garage door.

Key off power delay R.jpg

The Headlight off delay appears in 2 locations in settings.

Headlights on approach R.jpg

According to the owners manual, a Uconnect 4C or 4C NAV has the options to set the Headlight off delay and the Headlight illumination on approach to 30, 60 or 90 seconds.

Haven't programmed the garage door opener, I still use the module.

The programming of the HomeLink garage door opener should be in your owners manual, but if yours is worded like mine, it isn't too clearly presented. You may find some of the YouTube videos have a better explanation.

If you want to program the HomeLink openers, we can likely find online directions that are easier to understand or some members might be able to guide you. I have a video somewhere on the topic.

Actually, the opener is a piece of cake to do, but you need the opener remote. You are actually going to clone the remote, rather than program from the opener to the truck, itself.

It’s a two step process. I would start with the original remote with fresh batteries. You will need to clear the button in the vehicle as you cannot program on top of another button previously programmed. First you will program the remote to the vehicle. Second, you will match the vehicle to the opener (the unit hanging from the ceiling). Most opener manufacturers will have a toll free line and are able to walk you through the process. I recommend this as if you hit the wrong button somewhere during the process, they can get you situated

My friend calls me a New Luddite. We should start a club. Mostly I just ignore a lot of the technology in my Ram diesel. Some stuff is automatic. I like GPS though. It is very useful until it starts giving bad instructions. The only people that get lost coming to my house are the ones that use a GPS.

I keep the headlights on automatic, because it is hard to tell which lights come on looking at the dial.
I really love my truck. It is a Bighorn and has plenty of dazzling amenities.

Found that this morning, and set it for 10 minutes , as shown .

2/3 of the time , still shuts off as soon as turn off engine .

As I mentioned, mine sometimes resets to 0 delay, then I set it back to 10 minutes.

Well , is it ?

Yes, the big screen in the center of the dash is the Uconnect radio.

It doesn't reset , it still says 10 min , it just shuts off anyway.

But since l found the hidden Accesory position, it's no biggie .

What is irksome , if a cloud passes over , the Automatic Headlight comes on . Still no big deal.

When Headlight comes on , the dash gets so dim , it might as well be blank .

Settings > display on screen, there are buttons to adjust , but Pushing them , it won't change .

Use the dial under the headlight knob, if you spin it all the way to the right you'll feel two detents and the interior lights turn on, one detent to the left and the dash doesn't dim at all but warning it will keep the dash and radio at full brightness and uses daytime colors which can be blinding at night. Spinning that knob to left fully everything is dimmed fully and the interior lights stay off even if the door is open.

You REALLY need to read through your owners manual a couple of times. It helps to do it while sitting in the car and playing with the various settings, buttons etc. The modern vehicles are VERY different than the ones we grew up with. As you are learning, they have a ton of features that are not all that easy to figure out. Best of luck with the new Pickup.

re auto head lights ,
When I back out of my dark garage if I do not turn garage lights on , during the day, the backup camera will thinks its night time and all the dash and screen is in dark mode and the camera is useless for a little bit, usally till I don't need it on.
If you switch the head light switch to manual, solves the problem, but so much effort.

I am Luddite. This ( '17 Laramie) is my first long term experience with new fangled push button instead of real key.

I don't want to start / have running engine to put windows up / down , or to listen to radio .

When l first got it , the radio would play for another 2 min or so after shutting off engine , before opening door , now , it's instant .

Is there some way to have equivalent of " Acc " , or am l stuck with screaming at clouds ?

I've had a number of Ram 1500 with the push button start and as long as you have the key fob in your pockett you can be in your Truck and you can listen to the radio or roll the windows up and down or other things that require power without cranking the engine! Just don't put your foot on the brake pedal and push the start button one time and it should go to Acc and you are done! The buttons have three positions off , Acc and Start!
