Adding steering wheel radio controls

I do not have factory radio steering wheel controls in my 2010 ram, and want to add them. I am a little confused though...I found a kit to add steering wheel controls, but it does not include the left steering Wheel control.

These are the controls i currently have on my 2010 steering wheel. Will i have to add the newer ram buttons to replace them?

The mopar steering wheel radio control kit is $199.
Newer Steering wheel button used on ebay is $47.
Then i have to buy a pac unit so they will work $60.
Seems like a lot of money and crap I have to buy just to have steering wheel controls. Its not sounding like its even worth it.

I think 13+ steering wheel setup is different then the early MY setup. I watched eBay until I found a steering wheel with all the controls that was like new and a lot cheaper then buying all the parts separately.

This is exactly what I would do. Check eBay or your local Pick Your Part and get a used steering that has the factory controls.

I'm in the same boat as you, and you are better off getting a whole wheel that has the features you want from eBay or a scrap yard.

It cheaper and easier if you get a used wheel that already has the controls, you get benefit of having a leather steering wheel along with the controls.. i dont know why chrysler/ram havent made steering wheel radio controls standard yet, i know they are going to have to make the backup cameras standard per new govt mandate.

Thanks everyone for the replys. Does the newer steering wheel controls adjust volume on the front left side of yhe steering wheel? Readon i ask, is because the $199. Kit looks like it adds the volume switch on the back side of the steering wheel.

Ram 1500 audio controls are on the back of the wheel. This was the same on my 2007 Dodge Caliber.

Is a 2018 1500 prewired in the column and dash to accept a steering wheel with radio and phone controls or do I need a harness too? I am picking up a 1500 Express next week and it only has a standard 3.0 no UConnect radio. I'd really like to upgrade to (5.0 or better OEM radio) hands free and blue tooth with steering wheel controls.

Any advise is appreciated

Yea its wired for it. I bought a leather wrapped wheel with audio controls and replaced mine that didnt have controls and everything was plug n play (2013+)

The audio button is on the back right hand side and the channel button is on the left hand side

That steering wheel on Ebay with the leather cover, is 458.00 (close not exact) and the kid there on is 169.00 the real work remains the same. Morparparts.com is 45 for the switch, 20 dollars for the harness.
The govt should on pickup truck dictate that they have backup and forward looking cams. Then they should dictate what color I spit (I like backup cams but hate the idiots in DC telling me what i can and can't do--with MY money) Yea, I fought mandatory Auto insurance too) I lived free too long.

My 5 inch radio is Am/FM/Xm Uconnect backup cam---Uconnect works with it not with the RA4 AN uping of equipment. When or if you upgrade PM me I can save you some problems and a dollar or tw0.
