Air filter mesh screen

Anyone remove the screen mesh filter before the air filter ? Mine was looking a little grey ish black, it appears to be stapled in the air box, i ripped it out.

I took mine out by drilling/cutting off the plastic rivets. Kept it for when I sold 21 5th gen and forgot to put it back when I did! Never any issues or gains to be honest. Read it here and just…..did it!

Wasn’t looking for gains, unless you consider just looking less restrictive airflow
