Probably should avoid air-ride.
It's a complete 'system' with air-bladder shocks at each corner, plastic hose which connects each air shock back to the compressor/manifold assembly. Level sensors at each axle corner and wiring back to the computer, so it can determine what the height of the truck is. And there are a few other solenoids, etc in there and more wiring. It's a real nice and deluxe system with great capabilities for the 'right' owner. But as you can see, there are a good number of components and all sorts of potential failure-points for issues to arise. Then add in salt spray, flying stones, ice, rust and all that. If there's an air-leak there are many possibilities ..where do you start? It can be time consuming. A good home mechanic who took the time to learn the system could keep it going forever. But someone relying on paid service could spend a small fortune in/out of the service dept, just to keep it functional. And extremely frustrating when it isn't.
If your goal is simplicity, low cost and no headaches, stick with a truck with regular coil springs. They ride nice. Good luck on your truck search!
