It doesn't appear to me that I can even get to the CAR CONFIGURATION settings unless I am connected (when I try from inside my house and not connected to the truck). So, if I am getting that far it would seem that I must be connected...
You should be able to scroll through the whole tool without being connected while you're sitting in your house and go through car configuration changes ect but certain options like the CSM settings and some others will not show up unless your actually plugged into the truck.

Are you using the MX adapter?

The only time I have seen the CSM settings not show up is when the truck is not connected. If you are 100% sure you are connected I really don't have an answer as to why your settings are not showing up.

Trust me. I believe you! But doesn't it make sense that if I am actually getting to the screens where I can change the DRL settings that I must be connected? And I know that I have changed those settings successfully because they were off and now when I run the VEHICLE STATUS screen they are turned on. If I wasn't connected I don't think I would even see those settings let alone be able to change them. For example, sitting here in the house at the main screen it says "Interface not connected". I can click "Select control unit" and then select "Body Computer MY2013-17" and it says "Connect requested to Body Computer" and "Connection status: Not connected". I can tap the "car with hood up" icon and get the screen where I can select "Car Configuration Change" but the "Start" button is greyed out for all selections and I can't even attempt to make changes. But when I am connected the "Start" button is active and not greyed out. So, it "seems" like I am actually connected. Make sense or am I rationalizing?

Parking brake off and in gear? Hmmm... Might have to run down the road in front of it to check... Or wait for my wife to come home to assist.

Mine come on in D, N or R. Chock a wheel or two and put in N to be able to check. Or pull up near a wall and look for the reflection, that's how I checked when I first turned them on.

No It sounds like you're doing everything correctly and the truck should be connected. You can always tell when it connects to your truck because your speedometer and dash lights will flash. To be honest I really don't have an answer as to why your CSM settings are not showing up. I have not seen this happen when the truck is connected.

No. I am using an ELM327 bluetooth ODB dongle.

That is your problem.

While I cannot be 100% certain, the ELM327 could very well be the problem here. There are quite a few knockoffs that work...sort of. Before purchasing the OBDLink MX Bluetooth, you could always send a bug log to the developer to be certain. He will be able to determine your issue.

Back in 2017, the Dart forum found out about alfaOBD and we quickly realized that only the OBDLinkMX bluetooth worked with alfaOBD. Some members bought the different colored adapters and they did not enable ELM327's or any of the low cost dongles to work with alfaOBD. Save yourself the aggravation and just get the OBDLinkMX bluetooth.

I want to thank everybody for the absolutely fantastic and timely support! You guys are terrific!

I just sent an email to [email protected] describing the issue. Will be interesting to see what they say. While it could turn out to be a problem with the ELM327 dongle, it is still odd to me that I can successfully change other settings but not even see any of the CSM settings. I will post here when I hear back from them. I'll spend the additional $80 for the MX OBDLink if I have to, but I want to be as certain as possible that that's the problem before I do so.

@Fisher99 We have seen this a couple times in the recent past with the ELM327. Hopefully it's not the case but I have a bad feeling it is. The upside to the MX is that there are no additional adapters needed when connecting to any modules unlike the others OBDII adapters. At any rate, let us know what he has to say.

@Fisher99 I'd be curious to know if the DRL settings you have made actually have taken? You can turn your headlights to the off position and check if you're parked in a dark area by putting it in R, N or D with no parking brake.

If one compares all the possible different pinouts for DLC connectors among even different models and years for the same manufacturer, it's amazing any OBD adapter can spit out codes consistently. That's why those colored adapters are out there. The OBDLinkMX seems to be able to figure out the right pinout for almost anything with OBD2. With the way electronics in cars and trucks is getting more and more complex, you have to expect that you need to update your scanner.

Most of the pins aren't even used. I think the Alfa software uses the standard pins to determine the system type it is connecting to and to get basic information which helps "tell" the MX adapter when to switch pins

That is IF xfinity gets this internet sorted out. With all the storms we've had this year, this is the first time it has been down for this long. Literally makes no sense. Guess it's time to upgrade my data plan to unlimited for my hotspot! Lol

Dang it! That was one of my selling points to the wife. Don't have the app and obd yet but will soon. Looks like fun.
