I may have missed the answer, but just how can I determine if my 2017 Ram can have the Smart Beam (automatic high beams) function enabled? After reading through this thread I recall reading that 2017 rear view mirrors are different from 2016 and earlier. The rear view mirror in my '17 has the automatic dimming feature, does this make it capable of the Smart Beam function?

It needs to have the camera that you can see in the pic he provided.

Edit: @Chach Quick draw...lol

Quick update: Added VTA settings (with remote start and without) to the list, Global Up (didn't work for me but might for others), Global Down

Has anyone tried the "tilt mirrors in reverse" on a truck WITHOUT memory mirrors?

Yes we did and you have to have the memory mirrors. For some reason that function will not work in my truck which is a 2014. Even when I installed memory mirrors when I pushed the select button on the screen it turns itself back off. I can verify it has work for others with the 2014,2015 and 2016 but for some reason it won't work with mine. In order for it to work you will need to install the memory mirrors activate the Tilt in reverse function and turn on driver and passenger mirror memory.

VTA. Vehicle theft alarm

Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

Oh I see.

But if my truck has a fob that locks/unlocks the doors, what is the vta?
Can I just turn that setting on?

Yes you can turn on alarm with the tool. If your truck has the factory remote start then you need to enable the hood latch as well.

The vehicle theft alarm will sound your horn anytime someone opens either one of your doors or the hood when you have the truck locked. I'm not sure which speedometer you have but in the premium cluster there's a small red LED light that flashes on and off when it is set near the speedometer needle.

There is no special fob for VTA it just sets the alarm with lock and disarms with unlock. If tampered with by opening door without the fob then the horn will blaze.

Edit: I'm slow today. lol

Also, to answer your second part. Yes, you can just set the VTA without having the remote start. If that is what you meant? I included both ways in the list. You can check the other settings without changing them to see what all is actually enabled. Also via your log info.

Can DRL’s be turned on with quads. I would think so but I have changed everything I can see. I want to keep low beams on all the time. Does one setting have to be changed first let truck sleep then change another? Any suggestions?

Ghost_Ram....thanks for the link.....I read that post previously. Rick's post specifically mentions 2013-2016. I was not sure if 2017's had the same mirrors. From posts on the several mirror part numbers in this thread I got the impression that 2017's had a different rear view mirrors than 2016 and earlier, and wondered if 2017's may have the ability because of a different mirror.

Yes. I believe I did correctly but will verify. That’s why I was asking if the truck needs to sleep between the fire step.

The 2017 and up trucks have a different rear view mirror because they moved the microphones from the mirror to the headliner.

Rick may be able to better respond to this. Does your camera look like the one pictured

I actually enabled mine with the OBDGenie. But have verified those setting are what is actually set in mine.

When I originally set my codes, I was performing them one at a time and then waiting 5 minutes to let them set. I did find after having my remote start put in that I was able to enter sets of codes. However, some did not take for a while.

If you have already set them, then they should eventually take. You will notice when going in to look they will already be set if you have done so. I want to say when I did my auto high beams this time they took a few cycles over the course of the day while I was out and running around. I suddenly noticed my evic gave me the automatic high beams enabled message. So it all really depends. I will run through the everything having to do with the DRL again on my end later today and make sure I did not miss anything.

Rick...thanks....figures, no "free lunch" then. Wanted to add the Smart Beam and the Tilt-in-Reverse feature, but no joy for either of these for me now without that camera on the back of the rear view mirror and no outside memory mirrors.

Auto Park CSM is "not set" on my truck ... hmm

M² Mods.

Ok, here is what Auto Park CSM sets on my 8.4.

Can’t select it of course because I didn’t enable the other settings. Probably won’t work on mine anyway as I don’t think this is for the thing we’re thinking of...?

Edit: Went back and looked at the Auto Park Present and it was set when it wasn't before. Think it enabled it because I enabled the CSM setting for it? I know it definitely wasn't set before I set the CSM, I even verified in my logs. Going to experiment by disabling the CSM then the setting and doing it in the correct order to see what happens.
