Does anyone here already have a Ram with the rain sensor? And can take a picture of the mounting bracket? Found a company that sells/makes(?) mounting brackets. Just called but the tech guy who would know which bracket will not be back till next week. Got to link and see the brackets:

https://www.prp.com/product/?subcategory=Rain-Sensor-Mount&catname=Windshield
Save your breath, that was one of the companies I contacted. They have them for Challengers and Durangos but she said no to Rams. They do have the pad however.

Edit: Jeep too
Ok I got a question for you guys. My obdlink mx will be here today. On the global down for the windows. What is the sequence on the remote to get the windows to go down?
First press, unlock, second press and hold will roll down until you let off.

Press unlock once and let go, press unlock a second time and hold it down for a bit and the windows should start lowering.

@mjf6175 I would be curious to know though if one of those other brackets would work. To be honest, I'm surprised they don't utilize the same one across lines. Maybe not for Challenger, 300 or Charger but for Jeep, Durango and Ram.

On that page pasted above the closest I could find is:

I have the rain sensors. I can take a look later today. What am I looking for exactly?

I was thinking the same thing. I would think that FCA would use the same rain sensor across vehicle lines and if so then the same bracket. On the page I pasted in my prior post there are 2 brackets for FCA vehicles. They are:

1) RSM-2174 (Challenger / Charger / Chrysler 300
2) RSM-2268 ( Jeep Cherokee )

To the right (when inside looking out) of the rear view mirror there will be a sensor attached to the windshield...it might be under the cover that covers the lower part of the rear view mirror as well.

The sensor snaps into a bracket that is adhered to the windshield....the bracket is what we're interested in. If you can get the cover off easily, that would be best, then take a bunch of pics of what you see.

I also heard back from the two glass companies I contacted a few moments ago. They can only source the pad but not the bracket.

And just like that, dead in the water. Lol

If you can get your hands on one from a salvage truck then we might be able to take precise measurements and, depending on the material of the original, either 3D print one in plastic or metal or CNC cut one out of metal. Just an idea...

This is a trick I have found that will sometimes work. When we install these radios in our trucks that came with the RA1 and RA2 radios the voice texting usually works. I have had my RA4 radio in my truck that came with an RA2 radio for over two years in my truck and the voice texting works. I have installed several of these for people and the voice texting has worked in every one. It has something to do with Uconnect subscription reset when we enter the security code to enable the radio. I had a different radio that stopped voice texting after an update. I got the idea to remove it from my truck and install it in my friends Ram and enter the security code and it actually worked. After the reset the voice texting started working again. I have also had it work on another radio. I am not sure if it will work on a truck that came with the 8.4 but if you know anyone with a Ram I would reccomend getting your security code either from the dealer or inline and install your radio in his truck enter the code to let the radio reset and see what happens.

damn, i need to find someone to test this, the 8.4 can be removed and reinstalled in literally 10 mins or less.

I can't guarantee it will work on a radio that is going back into the same truck it originally came out of because Uconnect could possibly lock out the voice texting again but I can verify it has worked for myself and others that have done the 8.4 conversion. After you install the radio in the other truck and enter the security code the radio will be locked to that Vin# When you install it back.in your truck you have to enter the security code again which will lock it back to your Vin# and do another reset.

Now if there were any salvage yards anywhere near me with 4 gen Rams. Last time I looked around for my fold flat floor I found one 13' about 2.5 hours away. I'm in VA so everything is pretty spread out here. There's plenty of the previous gens.

If I could find one though, I'd snatch the whole thing out. Razor, little heat and some 30ga kanthal for the bracket would do the trick!

Here are the pictures of the rain sensor. Not sure how to take it off and don't want to mess anything up

@Chach Perfect, thank you! Definitely give me something to compare and you also confirmed the sensor part #.

Edit: The third image of the bracket says a lot. It is definitely not either one of the two from PRP. Or any of the ones from GGG Corp.

Edit2: Also seeing as it is some kind of plastic and not metal also makes removal a little more difficult. A lot more difficult..

I'm in NY, we're packed in like sardines and there are STILL no salvage 4th Gens rams in the surrounding three counties. :(

I don't see a price for these, and/or know if they sell them individually, but is this what you're looking for? The GGS 1724 KIT?

https://www.gggcorp.com/Rain-Light-Sensors.html

I looked through their photos of the mounting brackets and none of them look like the one in the pics. You can see a set of tabs extending out from the top and bottom but none of the pics look like the ones Chach posted. The tabs I believe act as retainers which secure the sensor to the mount pressing it against the clear pad.

It doesn't make any difference what radio his truck has. All you need to do do is get your your unlock code and install the radio in his truck and enter the code and let the radio fully reset. and then install it in yours and do the same. If you install the radio in his truck pair your phone and see if the voice texting works before you pull it and install it back in your truck.

The 1724 looks exactly the same. It has the same tabs in all sides and is the same color.
