So I am jumping on board with this thread because I want to activate the DRL in my 2014.
I am asking just to be sure... following the procedure pinned in the google drive is all I need to do?

I'll throw another confirmation in. Mine is a 2014 with factory projectors and I had no problem activating the DRLs. The only issue I ran into is that I can't get the High Beams to work as DRLs. But the Low Beams, Fogs or Turn Signals work as DRLs just fine. If you're anywhere near Dutchess County NY I'd be happy to turn them on for you if you want to test before you buy.

Thanks but I am down in Florida. I have the OBD link on the way. Once I get it I'll get the software too. I was really just looking for confirmation that nothing had changed. I was tempted to buy the OBD genie but this is cheaper and gives me more options to play with later.

well, I have an ELM327 BT controller, so I might have to pony up for the software.

mjf6175...still waiting for my obdlink to show up. Was looking at Mpgrimm2's BCM text file and there's a setting called "FOBIK Safe Enable". That looks like what needs activated to keep the doors from locking with the FOB inside. Did a search on the term and a Cherokee owners manual came up. Unfortunately, it said that the FOBIK safe feature only works on vehicles with passive entry. If that statement applies to Rams, we may be out of luck.

But it shouldn't hurt to find the setting and see what happens. Let me know.

Dan...what a coincidence, a day or so ago I had PM'd Mpgrimm about this very same setting that you found too; FOBIK SAFE ENABLE". I have come up with three other settings and have enabled them all so far: KEYLESS GO / PASSIVE ENTRY / PASSIVE ENTRY CUSTOMER SETTINGS MENU. I will hopefully get to "set" the FOBIK SAFE ENABLE today.

Just as a point of additional info: I had contacted AutoTechElectronics and they advised that the remote FOBIK is the same for Ram's with the proximity handles. So no difference there. But there IS a sensor in the door handles. After talking with them and reviewing the info on how the feature works it appears that the truck looks for a fobik inside the vehicle using the 2 antennas we added (one antenna in front and the second on the back wall) to locate a fobik inside in (the same way when you go to start the engine). It then uses the sensors in the handle to see if a fobik is OUTSIDE the truck because if there is a fobik sensed outside near the truck the BCM WILL allow you to lock a fobik inside the truck.

I will post up the results soon................

Great. I'm hoping that even though we don't have the door handles, the system would still enable and would at least allow the FOBIK's to be recognized inside the vehicle.

I'm off to try and do a TPMS reset on a 2018, using my Autel. Will check in later.

For enabling DRL's with the oem Quad headlights, is there a consensus as to which is the better option hi/lo/fog/prking/etc? Any issues with bulb life running any of them as DRL?
High Beam seems to provide the best visibility to other drivers.
As it uses lower power than the bulb it also seems to provide the longest bulb life.

So today I got my MX and enabled my DRL. Then I adjusted my TPMS thresholds and reset my RFHub. No more tire light. And lastly I enabled my VTA.

my wife drives an Exploder, so maybe I should get the MX version and be done with it. Of course, I'd have to go into stealth mode to start messing with her vehicle.

Now if alfa worked on a Ford....
Have to settle fof FORScan for now.

Well......NO JOY. No change. If I had to take a guess its because when we lock the door using the door button the RFH hub is not looking for the fobik. The opposite occurs when we go to start. You push the start button and the RFH hub looks for the fobik using the 2 antennas we installed. But the reverse is not happening. The question is how do we get the RFH hub to look for the fobik when we hit the lock button. I would think there are 3 possible answers:

1) The RFH hub has to be programmed for this function just the way it had to be programmed for the pushbutton start feature
2) It could be a setting in the BCM we have not found yet
3) The proximity door handles are needed to complete the circuit

I tend to think that the third possibility is really NOT it, although possible. After setting the PASSIVE ENTRY CUSTOMER SETTINGS MENU you can uncheck the feature in "settings" on the 8.4 control screen and the proximity door handles will not function.

So ALMOST at a dead end. May try AutoTechElectronics again but do not hold much hope. The tech who answered when I called (Victor) was not even aware of the feature preventing lockouts. So a good chance they never looked into how to get this feature to work.

I noticed this line in my settings:

Fobik Safe Alerts Per Ignition Cycle: 32

Might be something useful

Thanks for the post. I had checked that setting out previously and my Ram has that same setting already. But please post up any other setting you come across and think it may help.

What’s the specific module needed to use alfaOBD? I have a few Bluetooth obdii and a WiFi one, but I’m fusing this requires a special one?

This look a lot cheaper and more promising that AE’s tool!

Also is there an iPhone access to this as well?

Just an idea, but have you tried to reset/replace the RFH. Maybe those settings have to be relearned after setting them in the BCM, just like the process of the TPMS.
I attached a screenshot of my RFH log from when I did my TPMS, it shows the Fobik Safe setting in it.
Like I said, it's just an idea.RFHlog.jpeg

Just Android and Windows platforms. If you scroll up to the very first post it should have a link to the correct adaptor. I tried one of the generic Bluetooth adapters and got errors and wouldn’t work right. Dropped the coin for the one that was recommended and it worked perfectly.

Well darn....I never had too much luck with AutoTech. Email response is almost nil, if the phone went to voicmail, never got a call back. Put the wrong VIN in the RFH the first time so had to send it back.

Well that is surely a possibility. But I hate to say this...I AM AN OLD GUY. Which means some of this electronic stuff gets to be a reach at times. Up until now I have only ventured into the BCM. So I would have to ask that either you or Ghost_Ram (or the both of you!!) give me some guidance here. My questions are:

1) How do I get into the RFH hub? I know of course how to get into the BCM.

2) Once I do get into the RFH hub how do you change those values? The same way as in the BCM?

Having gotten my ignorance out of the way, the RFH hub that I and Danohall installed for the keyless go mod comes from AutoTechElectronic. They give you a new RFH hub that is programmed to your truck using your VIN. I would imagine that they have the KEYLESS GO option in the RFH hub already set, otherwise I think the pushbutton start would not work. But the other settings may not have been set by them since they were unaware of the lock out feature when I called.

So while I would tend to think that the settings I just did were changed in the BCM they may have also to be set in the RFH hub as well. That would be the FOBIK SAFE and PASSIVE ENTRY settings.

Thanks for the confirmation guys.

Thanks to all the info and those that posted in this very long thread. Started my hunt for DRL back in 2012 and was met with failure. Started my hunt again in 2017 and found OBD genie but for $200 and only getting DRL I just didn't feel that was really worth it. Jump to today and I now have working DRL and I can change/configure lots of different other things as well.

Thanks again.

Question with this. This is awesome by the way and a huge asset to the community. I have dual beam H13 factory and installed quad beam headlamps can I activate so that low beam will stay on with high beams? And keep fog lights on too? I know there is a law that won’t allow more than 4 lights in front on at any one time. But this is for off road I never use high beams since I have converted to LEDs.

Also it looks like my last post didn’t post but is there a specific obdii tool needed? Or will any Bluetooth obdii like the elm327 work? Is there support for iPhone with the alfaOBD?

Can't answer for the high/low beam question, but I can for the scanner. Dune people have had mixed results with the elm327. I use the OBDLink MX with no issues. And no, iPhone is not supported, only Android and Windows PC.

Ok sweet. I have a samsung tablet that I can do the tool with so not worried there. And of course I have many laptops with windows.

I’m going to look up that OBDLink MX now. I was going to go for the AE tool, but it seems alfaOBD is better. Some features that AE can’t do this one can. Like the puddle lights and turn signal on mirror.

Does it have the option to fold the mirror? I’d love to be able to add that in. These parking spots seem to get narrower and narrower every year. I already had someone bust out the mirror of my truck. Grrr!
