I just called the dealer and talked to the manager. He guaranteed I had the right code. So I’m going to say my email I got back from the creator of Alfa was on point that Alfa cannot program a 2018 with all the new security crap

Lawsuit...as member mtnrider says, you need to reset the RFH hub.

Changing the TPMS is a 2 step process. The first step is to change the pressure settings in the BCM. The changes you make in the BCM MUST be mirrored in the RFH hub. To do that you have to re-set the RFH hub using the Alpha program. When you go to the screen in the Alpha program to do this, the program will ask you for the 4 digit code you got from the dealer. When the RFH hub resets itself it checks the BCM for changes made to it and incorporates them into the RFH settings.

If that’s the case then the PIN is incorrect. They gave me the Key inquiry Pin. Don’t know what that is. What pin should I ask for. Is there a vehicle pin that is used or something specific

So question, what would be the difference from programming a key and activating remote start. (Keep in mind I am using the same key guts that are already matched to the truck hub that was already in the truck. Just replaced the outside overlay)

If you were to attempt to activate would you need the pin? Not that I am going to do it but it's so darn tempting to be the Guinea pig.

Kad....do not know if what I say here will help you, more than likely it will muddy the waters more. I have a 2017 2500 SLT. The downloaded file I have of my BCM shows SEVERAL listings of "Special Packages" for a total of 5. They are in the same order below:

1) Special Packages: Sport / SLT+ / Laramie
2) Special Packages: NO
3) Special Packages Not Defined
4) Special Packages Not Defined
5) Special Packages Not Defined

From what I've seen, most of the BCM's show either 4 or 5 of them, but when you go to the configuration change section in Alpha, only two are on the list of configurable options. It's one of the mystery of the BCM! :)

I’ve tried and tried and tried. It keeps saying security access failed on AlfaOBD. So I’m guessing it’s not possible for some reason. It’s either AlfaOBD is not compatible or the dealer gave me the wrong code. Can anyone let me know what their paper says that has their code from the dealer? Mine says key code inquiry.

I had the parts department print mine for me when I bought the truck. It says:

Key Code Inquiry Results

Ignition:M1***
PIN:9***

Did they give you a 4 digit PIN (all numbers) or a 5 digit pin with 1 letter?

Yes sir. That is what mine says except the ignition part. My just says not applicable . So it is the correct one. Maybe my Alfa just doesn’t like me lol. Or it’s not compatible with 2018 model yet. Alexey said in an email to me that he didn’t think it was possible to do it with a 2018. What has me thinking that is when I run the option to find all keys. It shows 0 for everything. It doesn’t even recognize the key in the ignition.

I am assuming then you have tried to reset the RFH hub?

Here is a prior post I made on the pin numbers:
There are 2 PIN codes for your truck. The pin code you want is only 4 digits and its not a rolling code. The other PIN code is 5 digits (one being a letter) and it is a rolling code. You do not want the rolling one.

Be prepared to maybe running into push back by service depts., many will not give you the code. They treat it as being owned by FCA. Usually have better luck at the parts counter in getting your PIN.

That’s where I went was the parts counter I didn’t have a problem getting the code at all. And it was 64**. I asked about it Being a rolling code and he said no the 4 digit was the same all the time. I’m going to look and see if it maybe had been changed by the previous owner for something and that could be why the code is not working

Mine is a 2018 also and you're saying that the dealer inquiry sheet reads,
"Not Applicable" on the ignition line where mine has a M1** ? Or the AlfaOBD says that? I have the 2018 bypass installed, app and OBDMX but won't be able to check till tomorrow. I know also that my bypass is working because I turned the DRL's and compass on too.

Yes the dealer sheet. And yeah I have turned on my DRL’s enabled my Nav turn by turn. So my security bypass is right and I was saying Alexey optimistic that the FOBIK programming wouldn’t work for the 2018 for some reason. If you look in the google drive folder with the post. You will see the email.

From your posts I gather you are not the first owner? Then as you mention there maybe the slight chance that the RFH hub was changed. I hate to say this but somewhere in this thread I recall a member explaining that there is a way to access the RFH hub so that you can see the PIN number. Its above my pay grade for how to do this, I am really a noob with this stuff. Hope the more intelligent here will chime in on how this maybe done.

Lmao. I’m a noob too with all this. No I’m not the first owner which is shocking for a 2018 someone had it for 5 months before I got it. Probably didn’t like the RA2 radio lol.

If that is possible to access the Pin outside of dealing with the dealer I will go that route. But just need to know how lol.

Maybe Alexey at AlfaOBD can update Alfa to include that option. I don’t know how difficult it is to access that Pin. But that would be a great upgrade for everyone. Not having to deal with the dealer

Ok, overwhelmed by all the reading...

My truck: 2016 tradesman CC 3.0 w/ 8.4 upgrade

Goal: use alphaobd to enable the led DRL in aftermarket (vipmotoz) projector headlights (copy of factory projectors)

I have an iPhone. So I assume I will need a cheap droid tablet

Then I need to purchase alphaobd app.

Then purchase a device to connect to truck???

Then???

Someone please get me started, as cheap and simple as possible...

Is the app just that intuitive that it’s super easy to make this change?? Cuz I can’t seem to find a simple explanation after lots of searching and reading.

Thanks

EDIT: found and copied John Jensen’s instructions for enabling the drls. So that should be helpful after I get the right hardware and the app.

Best / cheapest adapter and droid device???

I've heard of a lot of people with reverse lights throwing light out messages on the EVIC. I've been using these since March and never had one.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0193ISBUA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Couldn't find one for the license plate though. Tried a few that said they were canbus compatible but nothing worked. So I just changed mine to the LED setting and it went away. It also doesn't tell me when they're out either though.

Here's an option BoostedSports and FranksBlackGunz recommended for License and Cargo lamps - canbus compatible so no errors/codes. I've got them in mine no issues so far, with premium cluster.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07B9VH8S9

I tried the blue ones for interior lights and ran into a few issues, but no issues at all with the white ones for some reason.

On this subject...

So, I was wondering, of those of you who have swapped out your cluster and had it reprogrammed, can we collect the following info:

a> What year/trim is your truck?
b> What year/trim did your cluster come from?
c> Are you able to change the splash screen with AlphaOBD?
d> Who did your reprogramming?

I’ve read online in a few places that 4 wrong passcodes will lock the security system for 24 hours. Lmao. Maybe I did that before I even got the code. Will retry it tomorrow night along with waiting for someone to help me verify my pin. With their magic ways

Go all the way to the first post in this thread. The one with the link(OBDLink MX Bluetooth) is the best option yes it is $80 but it’s well worth it. You can possibly use others with attachments cause not all OBD readers work correctly with Alfa. That one has been used and proven to work with everyone on the thread. I actually use my laptop without a problem. If you click on the google drive link it will take you to instructions on how too and note and tips

Well my key fob just broke looks like I am going buy a key fob and see if I can program it with the tool. The unlock button stopped working. Took it apart and the contact has separated.
