Sounds good. The two settings I am trying to get working on my 17' 3500 HO Laramie are FOGs with High's on (confirmed working) and DRL's as blinkers (Have projectors) this is very much not working. (links below).

Giving up on those for now; next big thing will be programing a new start/stop fob..... Thanks for checking in :)

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1cOPRgM7z957XJTg16NSjozfXNbrHdjkRQzCs2t0HYRc/edit?tab=t.0

I have found that some tweaks have instantaneous results, such as the foglight dropout disabled, while others take several days or several ignition cycles, like the DRL changes.

I've found 6 different settings to tweak for the DRLs.

So, the "known working" settings for DRL, change and drive for a few days and see what happens? Is there a re-boot / re-init of the BCM needed maybe? Don't want to get to crazy in here. :)

I just set it and it works immediately in my 2014. Currently using turn signals as DRLs

I've had to reconfigure all the AlfaOBD tweaks at least 3 times or more due to warranty work where they reset the BCM settings, my oops last June and just experimentation, etc.

My experience with my '21 Warlock is that some are instantaneous and others seem to take days. I don't drive too much, maybe, that's part of it, IDK.

The DRL tweaks always seem to take several days for my truck. My last re-tweak for DRLs was the end of June, and it still took days to arrive, while everything else was immediate.

IDK if my truck being Canadian creates a delay, as being a Canadian truck and having an optional DRL is a legal conflict.

Did you review the 6 DRL items I've listed above?

Turns out.... You have to be in gear for them to turn on...... Must of missed that somewhere. Used to my Chevy being on with key...

So, settings from known working, work. Including the on / off in the user interface... Problem solved. Next challenge, gear display.....

AFAIK, only HD trucks have had success setting the gear display to always show in the EVIC while non-HD trucks only see the gear displayed after using the gear limiting buttons.

2017 3500 High Output w/Asian is my config. Are you meaning 4500+ as HD?

Nope, this feature might function on your truck.

Search Gear under Car Configuration Changes in AlfaOBD.

I will find it the next time I have my PC on, using the stupid phone ATM.

Ya, found it, have it set to ON. No option on settings on the dash or in the Radio. Might be one those "kinda sorta probably works" :)

That's always a possibility with AlfaOBD.

Global windows down works but I haven't heard anyone manage to get Global windows up functioning.

AFAIK, the gear option will appear in the EVIC display options.

Try searching 'gear display on EVIC' in the Ram Forum search utility.

I know I've heard of success stories on HDs. It may only apply to recent model HDs though.

Good evening.
Has anyone had an issue with not being able to go into Car Configuration tab? It does not even show up for me as an option under any of the headers (BCM, Climate, Engine, etc)
I am able to run tests, and can see Alfa is connected, but cant see a configuration tab.
Note* My ICS (Integrated Control Stack) is not working, thus the reason for me getting Alfa. Will the program not allow changes if there is a DTC set?

Using OBD Link EX, which might be another problem..... seems like everyone has success with the MX+

Thanks for any help.

Are you using AlfaOBD for windoze?

OBDLink Mx+ is very popular, but I prefer to use OBDLink SX.

The Car configuration change selection is not on the Start tab under the Function pull-down with the module options. The Car configuration change is located on the Active Diagnostic tab after first selecting BCM on the Start tab.

On the Start tab,
Model: Ram 1500
Function: Body Computer
ECUs: Body computer: My2013 PowerNet

AlfaOBD My2013.jpg

Click connect. After successfully connecting, select the Active Diagnostics tab. Click on the upper pull-down window, type car and hit enter.

Select the pull-down, and the window will drop open with the Car configuration change highlighted.

Scroll down, click on Car configuration change.

Click on the upper window in the lower area and type in your search parameter, and various options will appear.

AlfaOBD Integrated Center Stack.jpg

Select your preferred option, then select the value and follow the prompts.

And, welcome to Ram Forum.

Most of us use the MX+ and can attest to the reliability of the connection with AlfaOBD.

That being said, AlfaOBD works with the OBDLink EX, but the MX+ is a sure bet as the EX is optimized to Forcan (Ford) systems.

Can I transfer my alfa OBD from my phone to my tablet?

That would depend on whether your tablet uses Android, windoze or Chrome.

Android would be the easiest option, but it might still require an email to Alexey with all the details of the old and new devices. You could try installing AlfaOBD on the new tablet and then attempt to use the activation code, provided they're both Android devices.

I suspect that during this process, you will receive a notification that the current license is already in use on another device.

In the past, an email to Alexey was always required, but very recently, I read about a member having grief using AlfaOBD on his primary laptop, then switching to another laptop, AlfaOBD loaded and worked. Maybe the process has evolved.

If the tablet uses windoze, you can write to Alexey and ask if he will give you a deal on the windoze app. In past, he would provide a second plan at 50% of the full rate.
I'm not sure if he will agree to transfer it to windoze, but it never hurts to ask.

From what I recall, using Chrome is a crapshoot. Again, ask Alexey if AlfaOBD will function with the Chrome OS.

Alexey can be reached at [email protected]

Please keep us posted on how this works for you.

RamDiver, Thanks for that info. I apologize for not saying that they are both android. S21 ultra and older samsung tablet. Just at my advancing age not sure if the screen on my phone will be too hard to read and My bigger fingers hit the wrong buttons sometime.

You're most welcome, and no worries.

I only appreciate the portability aspect of my phone, and quite detest using it for anything that requires detailed vision.

I'll spare you my android OS privacy rant and just say, I use a windoze 17" laptop for AlfaOBD.

RamDiver, I agree with you on that. I just remembered that I do have a brans new windows laptop i just bought for my wife i could use (if she'll let me). I didn't want to use my 12 year old Dell. Is the lap top version of alfa OBD easy to use?
