2010 Ram 2500 Laramie - I am trying to add power folding mirrors. I have the correct mirrors, switch and door modules. Activated power fold in alfa. I lost almost all functions from the driver switch. Power windows front only, defrost, memory, mirror adjustment, etc. do not work. When I press the power fold button, only the drivers side folds. i am also getting a communication error from the bcm to both door modules.

I suspect the modules I have are unable to communicate with the bcm.

I am fairly confident that I read a post of someone that enabled power fold on the 2010-2012 models.

Can anyone confirm?

Thanks

Thank you. I am getting error code u0204 and u0203. Could both modules be faulty?

You're most welcome.

Are there any other DTCs?
u0203 & u0204 are loss of communication to the door modules.

Are these the original modules and wiring or have they been added?

Were the other door functions working recently and what changes were made that just before this group of failures?

I'm not sure if the 2010 year used CAN bus or PCI but I would start with an inspection of the wiring and connectors.

I will look at this in more detail when I get to my PC, using the stupid phone ATM.

Verify the power and ground for both modules. AFAIK, you should be able to measure a voltage signal on the data + & -with a digital multimeter.

What are the codes? Did you add wires yourself?

Thanks again.

No wires were added. I installed sport premium mirrors, door modules 68225102 & 103 and the door switch. Programmed power fold with Alfa. Many functions of the truck have dropped out and the error codes above. No other codes are present.

I am sure that somebody else has done this to a 2010-2012 truck with success, I just can’t find that post.

So far I have:

  1. Enabled LED for license plate bulbs (can see via backup cam they're not cycling anymore)
  2. Enabled LED for fog lights bulbs (can see via phone photo sensor / camera they're not cycling anymore)
  3. Enabled DRL and set to USE LED turn signals (factory projectors -- very bright)
  4. Set my tire thresholds to 35 PSI (down from 80 / 60 from the factory on my 2017 2500) as I like to run around 45 PSI
  5. Disabled FOG LIGHT DROPOFF so they stay on with high beams

Still searching for more things to tweak. This is quite awesome.

I was asked by a friend if either of these were possible:

  1. Set it so when holding down unlock on FOB, the windows will go down all the way
  2. Set it so backup lights will illuminate upon unlocking the doors
I didn't see anything I could change to do either.

PS: I'm using this for my OBD II Bluetooth Adapter and it works great: https://smile.amazon.com/Vgate-Scanner-Bluetooth-Version-Diagnostic/dp/B075R62FTH
I did all the same, options in my 18, 2500. An option i just saw and need to look into is the seat warmers. I have some heavy duty seat covers and can hardly feel the heat anymore. I'm gonna try changing it from cloth to base leather. See if i can't get a lil extra heat out of them.

So the other door functions failed to operate after installing the new door modules or after the AlfaOBD tweaks?

Where did you determine that these door modules were suitable for your truck?
The one site that I definitely don't trust indicated 68225102 was for 2011+.

I would take the following with a grain of salt because all of the following Mopar sites may share a common database for reference, but none of them list this part as compatible with a 2010 Ram 2500 CTD.

Thanks for replying. Yes, everything was working fine before the module switch. I am almost positive someone got the power fold mirrows working on a 2010-2012 truck using the same modules and settings.

My issue is the bcm has lost communication with the modules. This could be a few things: broken wire, no power, faulty modules or the modules are not compatible. I am going to try and narrow it down. Thanks again.

Those modules will not show up on any parts site being suitable for a 2010. But that’s what we are trying to accomplish with the intelligent folks on here and Alfa. Lots of changes have been made outside the box thanks to the above. I was hoping to accomplish the same with a 2010 having power folding mirrors. I will keep researching. Thanks

I haven't been at the Ram adventure as long as many others here, but AFAIK, the electrical architecture did change significantly sometime around 2009-2012.

With significant change, interoperability could become very difficult or impossible.
Let's see if one of our electrical Gurus, @Ken226 , has time to comment.

They may not be compatible at all,

You may need to look at and compare some wiring diagrams between your year, and a year that these modules are specific to. Make sure the powers, grounds and communication wires gave the same pinouts, and change what needs changed.

I was comparing the PCM pinouts from 2013 to a 2014 a few days ago. I wanted to see how close to plug-n-play a 2014 PCM would be, if i fo an 8 speed swap. To eliminated the need to send my PCM in and have the RFE logic deleted

There were a lot of differences. Some of the same systems were @ different pins in the 2014 vs the 2013 PCM. Definitely not interchangeable without re-pinning a few wires.

Maybe find some used modules of the correct year, on eBay. That way it won't sting as bad if they don't work.

Edit for correction:
On the pinout differences between the 2013/2014 connectors, they werent different year to year, but had different pinouts from the RFE to the 8 speed trucks. The pins occupied by the RFE controller in the 6 speed pcm were blank in the 8 speed, but some of the other stuff were different.

Does anyone know if it is possible to adjust the following distance on the adaptive cruise. I always use the maximum distance and would actually like to be able to increase that distance a bit.
Just another vehicle space or two would be nice.

Not knowing what vehicle you are talking about, I just checked my configuration print out and there is nothing to change for the distance in the configuration

It's my 22 RAM 2500. It must have some calculations that it does someplace.

I plan on adding fog lamps to my warlock. When it comes to flashing the bcm, should I just let a dealer do it? I do not plan on modding anything else. Ever.

IMO ,.. yes. that way it's tied to your VIN and should survive any recalls that may affect updates to the BCM later

@Mpgrimm2 's advice is sound BUT I've heard your story before. $10 says you catch mod fever like the rest of us...

Not likely, I been down the mod road before. Had it ( mod fever) bad in 2010, when I joined this god forsaken forum. lol.
