ALPHA REX VS MORIMOTO

What are better for lighting and/or appearance. I am looking at the top of the line in both brands. Any suggestions, and also I would be selling my OEM black projector headlights if anyone is interested.

I have no experience with Alpharex but have the Morimoto XB. Although the look good and seem to have most of the kinks worked out I cannot recommend them. They look good, I get no error messages, but the cutoff is a joke. There is no getting them aligned level. I sent pictures to them and they just said that is within spec. These are also the newest revision that don’t melt. I wish I would have kept the melted ones now because at least the cutoff was better. As much as they are it should be pretty damn level. If I didn’t have so much money in them I would go back to my stock with HID. Since I can’t get my money back I just left them on and get pissed every time I drive the truck at night.

Is putting hid bulbs in that good?? I bought some “upgraded” halogen bulbs when I had one go out and they didn’t do much as far as color or quality

Ok so I can not give you a personal opinion on the “top of the line” AlphaRex lights, nor the Morimoto lights. However...

I CAN give you my opinion on the AlphaRex “2019” style lights for the 4th gens. I bought the first style that was released (before the smoked DRL lenses and “show mode” on/off sequence).

I had a basic Amazon H7 HID kit in then and they were amazing. Almost as good as my H1 retrofit oem headlights. I ended up tearing apart the Allharex lights and retrofitting dual Mini D2S 5.0’s into them, so 4 D2S projectors for low beam and then the shields dropped for high beam so 4 high beam aswell. Also outfitted the DRL’s led’s for RGBWA strips and 4 sets of demon eyes, one in each projector. All Morimoto HID kits. The housing and intervals are of extremely high quality, on par with OEM quality.

I also have had a set of the TYC OEM Projector replica’s with a Morimoto HID kit in them, and was surprised at how good the output was for a “stock oem projector”.

So if you wanna save money, throw a good Morimoto HID kit into your stock oem projectors. If you are not really concerned with money, think about retrofitting the cheaper AlphaRex lights with D2S projectors, the output is amazingly. Or just get the Nova or the Lux series or whatever it’s called but I know they are + $800.

I will say however, I do love Morimoto and Profile Performance products (same company), their headlight housings are ****. **** quality, **** output, **** warranty. Just plain ok pile of ****, waste of money.

Either get an HID kit for your stock headlights, or retrofit then or paint them if you want a different look, or go with the AlphaRex lights.... just don’t waste your money on the Morimoto Lights.

Plenty of YouTube reviews comparing them both. I researched both and went with Alpharex Nova’s. Much brighter than Morimoto (look at the reviews with drone footage). The amount of issues with Morimoto is what turned me away from them too. Melted housings, broken adjustment linkages and poor customer service. Not to mention they cost more than Nova’s too.

how do you like the Nova’s? I heard there is a blue hue at the cutoff. If so is it bothersome? Any issues with light out messages?

They have been great. Super bright and a clean cutoff so I’m not blinding anyone. Haven’t seen any blue hue. Zero issues with light out messages for headlights or turn signals. Had light out messages for “front parking lights” that would only come on at startup but was corrected with AlfaOBD.

I have had the Morimoto's since May 2019 (I think it was May). I did return a set because of the melting. That site functionally was really good. The replacement is really good as well. I have a '17 that came with quads. The XB's are far superior in my opinion. I do not have any experience with the Alpharex so I cannot comment on them, one thing I will say is I have watched a youtube video and to me it looked like whoever did the comparison had the aiming totally different on the Alpha's compared to the XB's. I may be entirely incorrect in that statement though so take it for what it is worth.

How good are the LED's in the Nova Alpha's? I have the stock lights with HID's for low beams because I've read on here that LED's aren't great in projectors. just curious if it is worth going to the Nova's over moving my HID's into the Pro's

The Nova's are super bright. Zero issues. I've never compared them side by side next to HID's. But unlike HID's in stock housings, you will get much more useable light without blinding others with dedicated LED housings. I was all set to buy HID's for my stock headlights when i started looking at the cost to do it right and then still having to deal with blinding people. I did a whole thread on them. That's them in my Avatar.

I'm assuming you're referring to non-projector housings. Using HID's in the stock projector headlights has zero issue with blinding on coming traffic.

Yea i noticed the Luxx series and they look nice. Curious of the output. I have the original AlphaRex style that i opened and add quad Morimoto D2S projectors so i have no need for the Luxx series but if i never retro'd these, i would totally have bought a set of the Luxx lights to try out.

Yes, i'm speaking of reflector housings, which i have. HID's are designed specifically for projectors. To get great output in reflector housings means blinding oncoming drivers. And it's odd that Dodge never offered HID's as an option on these. They do on their cars. Seeing the huge amount of aftermarket kits you'd think they would catch on.

The trick is you can activate HID's without problem using Alfaobd in projector headlights. No extra harness or relays etc. But if you ask the lighting companies they will swear up and down you need it.
