Ive used Alpine units and have paid $1300 for a unit from them before. I can see where the cost might come from with keeping all your factory options available and useable. Alpine makes the best in dash systems in my opinion. Sound quality is amazing from them, again just my opinion but i would give those a little time and they will make cheaper versions that use a lot of the same options. They always do.

Apparently it doesn't work with the 8.4 systems, which is crap...

True but you can buy AMPs, DSP/EQs that would turn your 8.4 into a good system for much less than 3300 bucks. I have a JLA Cleansweep and JLA XD700/5-2.... $1000 for both, still looking at an EQ not sure if I am satisfied with the 3-band on the radio but even if that was 500 bucks its still 1/2 of what this Alpine costs :D

That's what I'm figuring out lol. Doing the research no it seems like the 8.4 is best with a good signal processor and whatever you want after that. I'm looking at the Alpine PXA-H800 digital signal processor now. Seems like a pretty good buy, I just don't know if it sums the signals as well...

but also to get all those options with the 8.4 you have to pay yearly which I think is pretty damn stupid

I'd buy the Alpine H800 processor for a 1/3 of the price, buy an 8" cd/dvd for another 1/3 of the price....it will sound one million times better and I'd still be saving $1300

That's just good math there and isn't the H800 supposed to have one of the better auto tune functions on the market.

I figured it was just a matter of time until someone made this work with the 8.4" Alpine systems.

Alpine told me the only reason they say its not compatible is because its not plug and play with the factory harnesses, but it will work if you can find an aftermarket harness adapter.

I'm assuming he used the PAC RP4-CH21.

Where did you find this, post on another forum? I need details!

its on an industry only forum (must be in the business to be apart of it)

the guy that did this is based in Louisville, KY at a store called discount audio

the only issue he found was the hvac. he cant change the location where it blows so before he removed the factory he picked a location that the customer was ok with and left it.

he used the idatalink maestro harness
