Why in the world are you changing this fluid already? That is insane, unless all of you have over 100,000 miles on those trucks, which I doubt. Damm stop jacking with stuff and enjoy your trucks, good grief! Talk about making your lives harder, WTF!

ZF reconmends doing a transmission service between 80,000 kms and 130,000 kms (50,000 to 80,000 miles) or 8 years which ever comes first.Chrysler says sealed for "life",but so far we've yet to determine what "life" means :waytogo: :Big Laugh:

Yeah, i'm kinda torn because theres a part of me that isn't sure how long I want to keep this truck but since I know for sure that it won't be past 150k miles, I wonder if it's even worth messing with the trans fluids. Plus, it's not like new fluid will aid in better cold shifting which is what I really wish I could make better. When I say better cold shifting I really notice it shifting until about 150F. Must be normal in these things. When I get on it, it's smoother than when I just drive like a grandpa. Old man driving the trans is almost telling me, "make me work harder, p***y" lmao.

real quick, what are folks going with for these cold months for oil and filter? I like the results from the RP 20-820 but all I can see that is different is oil pressure from going from 5w20 mobil 1 to 5w30 redline. i think i will have to go with the -500 filter due to inventory shortage of the -820. I've only put 3k miles on the RL/RP combo so i imagine i'm probably good to just change every 5k or 7500 with that quality although with it being so damn cold where i'm at, thinking of going with Redline 5w20 until it warms back up again (6 more months or so).

I run oil pan heaters on my 2 winter beaters here in Alberta. It's amazing the differance in how they start with an oilpan heater compared to a block heater, plus a 125 watt pan heater is cheap to run in comparision to a 700 watt block heater.Oil filters i took care of several years ago on the truck, lol

Redline in the 8 speeds doesn't have a great rep,it's to "slippery" .It's one of the fluids alot of the better 8 speed tuners reconmend staying away from,as it contributes to more clutch slip. Not sure about AMSOIL's fluid though. If Redline is working for you, you're one of the few it is,but don't say you haven't been warned.I'd use Valvoline Max Life before i'd use Redline in the 8 speed
As far as I know the ZF material is a proprietary fluid with a patented recipe. I'm not aware of ZF licensing this product except for Mopar.

ZF has licensed their fluid to just about every OEM that uses the 8HP trans. But that's just a branding exercise and they all cost way more than the Redline or Amsoil, etc. fluids.
