What is the difference between the spark plugs in the 2014 5.7(which supposedly last 100k) and the spark plugs for the 2013 5.7 which are suppose to be changed every 30k? I know the ones for the 13 are copper but whats so special about the ones for the 14 and can they be interchanged?

I don't know, but all I know is that it's a pain to swap. I have 17k miles on my 2012 and I'm dreading it...lol

They are platinums on the 14s, you can switch to using them but some have reported some misfires and things like that after they switched.

Curious how a 14 can work with platinum's but a 2013 can't..

I've had issues with Hemi motors and platinums. I'd avoid them, personally.

BUT, i want to know why my 2013 is 30K changes whilst the 2014 is 100K.. I doubt much has changed??

Some people have run the platinum's with issues and some without issues on the other forum. If they were easier to change I would try them but I would hate to mess with them and have problems. Then having to change them again.

im sure they use different coils on the 100k spark plugs as well

It's my understanding that it takes different coils to reliably fire a platinum plug vs a standard plug. The resistance to jump the gap is different depending on the material, and thus requires a different coil.

Someone interested should look up the coil PNs for a '12 vs '14
