Any downsides to having step bars? PW don't come with 'em

My pw came with bars. I actually like the factory ones, but I do want something more aggressive looking to upgrade to that also rock slides. Haven’t found what I want yet.

Bought my 17' used and it came with these Magnum brand black step rails:

I've actually had a few people come up to me and compliment them, but I personally don't care for side steps like these because I could see them easily getting caught up on rocks. My plan is to replace them ASAP with some White Knuckle Off-Road Sliders:
